Buying a new motorcycle in Udon, wheres the best shop ?

Post by motorhomes4sale » October 19, 2005, 11:27 pm

My wife and myself are flying to Udon on 12th December, we are then going by car straight to her home town of Sakhon Nakhon where we will stay for 4 night before returning to Udon for a 3 night stay, I have booked a room at Udon Thai House for 16th / 17th / 18th dec ( I will be visiting most of the bars in those 3 nights )

When we arrive in Udon on 12th my wife would like to buy her mum and dad a motorcycle. Ive told her I will try and find out from this forum the best shop to buy one from in Udon. She is buying it with some of her own money she has earned working in England this last few months so I really want to make sure she gets a good deal.

The motorcycle needs to be about 100 / 125 or 150cc and have manual gears with an automatic clutch ( I think ? ) can anyone recommend which brand of motorcycle ie: Honda / suzuki etc ? and which model ? and price we should pay ? I am thinking around 32000 to 38000 baht.

Any help would be really appreciated.

Honda Wave - comes in 100/110/and 125 cc 4 gears - no clutch (semi-automatic) and a doddle to ride. Starts at just over 30,000 and goes to about 45000 for the 'injection' 125 model

There are hundreds of shops selling them all with a 5 year warranty (free labour, pay for parts) - price doesn't vary that much so just see what extras u can get thrown in (helmets, coats etc)

Its by far the most popular bike here

I'd agree with Paul, the Honda Wave is the best choice, well made and reliable. Showrooms everywhere in Udon.

Agree with paul & prenders88 :D Suggest you get the model with disk brakes.

We land at Udon airport at 13.25 on 12th December, we need to go into Udon town and buy one quickly before we drive to Sakhon Nakhon. Can anyone suggest a shop where we can get a good deal, if you can give me a grid reference then I can look on the Udon map. What is the price of a 125cc Honda Wave ? do they do alloy wheels ?

Thanks for help
Andy

Why in the world would you want to buy in Udon ,only to darg it to Sakhon Nakhon??
.I bet you there are dozens of shops in your town selling the same ,same for the same price ,and you establish a business relation with the shop in town when you bring the bike for service.

Trust me there are zillions of shops in Sakhon Nakhon selling Honda Waves and alloy wheels are not standard however there are shops here that can change almost every component on the bike for something more shinier and faster (no doubt) - where does one stop ? every nut bolt and panel can be changed if one desires.

Mobaan is right - buy it from the shop near to where you will spend most of your time and build up a relationship with them.
