Thai Smile
Thai Smile
I know that their was discussion previously on this forum regarding Thai Smile but I was wondering if anyone has tried to reserve a flight from overseas and tried to use their credit card from their own country and had any success?
I tried to book a flight from BKK - UTH overseas using my home credit card but it was not accepted (I tried two different types of card) but it keeps coming up with an error stating that I don't have permission to use a credit card.
What would international tourists do if they want to purchase a ticket on-line using their home country credit card?

Never had a Problem Living here in Thailand & That's using my U.K DEBIT Card....
Re: Thai Smile
Maybe you could try using Thai Airways site because I think you might find that all smile is a name on a plane and not much else or travel from swampy to DM and use one others much cheaper as well.
Re: Thai Smile
I made online reservations with Smile in May....once to go to Bangkok, then again from the US to return to Bangkok. Both times used my US visa card. No problems.
Might it have something to do with your browser?? It might be worth a shot trying a different browser. Chrome works for me.

Hi
Same happened to me last week with Thai smile.
Figured it out after a few tries..
If your put your CC number in like this it says contact your bank..
12334567891112
You have to put the numbers in the way it looks on the card ..four numbers then a space.
1234 5678 9101 .....
them it worked.
Cheers.

Re: Thai Smile
I experienced a similar problem several years ago with transactions from my Australian credit card.
Finally I tracked it down to my bank. They did not have authorization from the cardholder to allow use outside the country. A quick call verifying my identity and security, they then noted on their files and set it up so that it can be used overseas. They actually asked which countries I will be most likely using it from. It's their way of trying to stop credit card fraud or scams.
Perhaps not ThaiSmile but your bank?
After that no problems,all good.
Not sure if you have confirmed this arrangement with your bank but if you have, there should be no problems.
Hope this helps?
Cheers

I do it all the time (at least six times a year) and recently did it two weeks ago.
I booked and paid for the flight using a Visa Credit Card (Middle East based Bank). Just went on to the Thai Smile English web site, when sitting in Qatar, booked & paid for my flight from Bangkok to Udon Thani (just booked the one leg this time, but most times I do a book a return flight)
Received my confirmation reply from the Thai Smile email address: noreply@thaismileair.com to my email address, within several minutes, with the accompany Travel Itinerary Receipt
At the bottom of their email to me it has "If you have any questions or would like to change your reservation, please visit www.thaismileair.com or contact Smile Call Center 1181 or (66)2-118-8888"
Hope this helps

Hi pipoz4444
I used this Web site
https://www.thaismileair.com/en/
Filled in the required passenger information (I didn't have a promotional code and are not a TS member) and proceeded to the payment section.
However, after completing all the information for payment, using both my MC and Visa cards (at different times) the application was rejected and an error message appeared stating that no permission was allowed for the use of the cards.
I'm not doubting you were able to use your cards but maybe only certain countries or banks have approval from TS? The issuing bank I use is the largest in Australasia (I guess still small fry on a global scale!!!!)

My CBA visa credit card works on the TG Web site.
Just use the netbank token to confirm payment.

Hi and maybe the Commonwealth Bank of Australia, =D>, has a form of block on you using the card for overseas purchase, even when based in Australia?tataw wrote:Hi pipoz4444

Mine here, also has a form block for use overseas (one that has to be removed by way of a phone call to the bank stating which Countries it will be used in etc) before I travel. Also when using mine for purchases such as Thai Smile tickets, I receive a special security number from the bank (during the process) which then needs to be entered into/during the transaction process.to allow the process to be completed.
Maybe a call to the Commonwealth Bank of Australia, might clarify what the issue is, with using your card for the purchase of a Thai Smile ticket.
PS: I have a CBA Card too
