ANDY’s Funeral Update.

Unfortunately still not much of a progress, rather frustration, on Andy’s farewell.
-
As expressed before, the hospital is waiting for the bills to be paid before it will release the corpse and giving an official death certificate.
-
Andy’s sister in the UK has transferred the funds to Thailand, to the right account number (from the hospital). But unfortunately the beneficiary on the form was the name of the bank and not the name of the hospital. Therefore the payment was refused and send back to the Bangkok bank (main gateway to receive money from overseas).

Today solid, from 11.00 till 16.45 we have been in the hospital and in the bank, waiting, waiting, waiting and to see if we could be of any help, with no positive result.
Andy’s sister is trying to resolve the issue with the bank in the UK. If this issue can’t be resolved easily, she will have to transfer to money again and waiting till end of The month to get the previous transferred money back from the Thai bank.

Sad state of affairs where a hospital wants money before releasing body or death certificate. Doesn't say much for the supposedly Buddhist compassion we keep hearing about.

Update on Andy's funeral.

Banks in the UK and here in Thailand could cooperate. The money, to settle the hospital bill, is now on the hospital's account.
Therefore; today we could collected the letter of death certification, translated this to English and we faxed (Yes faxed) it to the UK Embassy. The Embassy will contact the family in the UK to obtain a power of Authority for us. Then we can collect at Amphur an official death certificate and move Andy's body from the morgue and bring it to a temple for cremation.
With in my mind that 19 and 20 november are public holidays in Thailand, I will keep you updated.

There many I expect anecdotal stories but this post was about Andy, shall we leave it at that . Maybe another post could be started so we can all share stories generally , not on a specific post relating to one person.

Andy was a really nice fella and RESPECT please gents ...his family near n far may be reading ..

Im.sure there are other threads refering to issues relatimg to hospitals etc no need to use his one .

BIG ANDY'S FUNERAL.

Today we received the consular letter from the UK Embassy wherein Andy's sister gave us the power of authority to obtain the original death certificate and to collect Andy's body at the hospital and bring him to the temple for his farewell

When you wish to pay your last respect to Andy, you are welcome at the funeral, which will be held:
.........Sunday 22 November at 14.00..........

We choose Wat Pa Pratum Than Pithak Anusorn because they have modern facilities.

BIG ANDY’s FUNERAL

Tomorrow, 22 November at 14.00 is BIG Andy’s cremation at the temple. (See google Map link in the post).
Some have asked me if we could leave together from Brick House. Also I have been asked several times if there is a reception afterwards.

For the ones who want to go together, we can leave at 13.00 from Brick House.

Andy’s family, back in the UK, has provided us with a budget to spend at a reception after the ceremony.
At Brick House we will arange this.

Im sure you will give the big fella a good send off and have a few beers on him after. It can't have been easy for Max to mourn the passing of his friend and partner in Cheese etc but Max did all he could and a big thank you should be mentioned in the celebration of Andy tomorrow after his journey great job and well done Max from me.
