Another Third Wanted
Another Third Wanted
I’m not sure I should post here after reading all the bizarre reactions. We had a very nice breakfast with an Australian consultant last Saturday. But he lives a bit far from Nong Sim for him to be a regular. I hope he’ll become an occasional drop-in friend however. Anybody else interested?- Hopefully not including the contributor who is sure this is an invitation to sex. Write me at alangarner6z@gmail.com.
A few people wrote they thought I must be good at conversation. I won’t judge myself, but I will say I’m the author of Conversationally Speaking, which aims to help shy people reach out and connect with others. And I’m the co-author of Lifeskills for Adult Children, which is even more basic and written for people who were neglected or abused as children and are having problems starting friendships and relationships. Much of my life has been dedicated to helping such people. I relate well with them because I used to be like them.

Nice one Alan, I enjoyed the meeting as well, you always get a gem out of meeting with intelligent people. In the past I have participated in similar breakfast groups. Take no notice from twisted individuals like some on here who have no moral compass and only seek to disrupt.

Re: Another Third Wanted
FFS Tam, that is exactly my professional title, an independent computer consultant. If that plays into your inferiority complex, so be it.

Re: Another Third Wanted
I think in British English "consultant" usually means a medical specialist?

Re: Another Third Wanted
No worries Whistler. It's just as a Cheese Mechanic, I've worked with a fair few "consultants" who were good at Lego and not what was claimed. Cleaning up after them is even worse. Have you ever stood on a Lego?

Re: Another Third Wanted
What's the big deal about being a computer consultant? It's the title my employer has on my business card and my work profile. Put a sock in it tam and KP.
My goodness you are a bitchy lot

Re: Another Third Wanted
Whats wrong with you KP? You do not know me, you do not know the company I work for and you do not know what I do. Despite this, you post this bitter little diatribe.
Alan described me as a consultant, he did so after understanding what I do. You feel fit to post comments based on what? All I stated was I enjoyed the company of the two guys and took away a few little gems from Alan's experience.
Yet you and Tam, a pair of know-nothings have to make snooty little comments. Why, is there nothing better in your lives other than the need to act like bitchy women?

I did say LOL, obviously with all your quals you lost your sense of humour. I do not know you and for that I am probably grateful . Know nothings, maybe but sadly having lived over 70 years seen numerous things I would not wish on my wporst enemies, nothing you say will stop me saying a funny occasionally.Whistler wrote: ↑May 10, 2022, 11:11 amWhats wrong with you KP? Re: Another Third Wanted
My business description is "consultant" too. I'm not a doctor and I've never stood on a Lego brick. I dont think either are pre-requisites but I may be wrong.

All we had was the "Fox 3" (Foxboro Mass, USA, Instrument Company) a DEC PDP 11 Mainframe (Baged) and a ---- load of hole punched paper tape, the control consol was made up of 16 switches & 16 lights - if they were serviceable and my title was instrument fitter. Had these dinosaurs installed in places like the Swan Brewery in Perth, Hamersley Iron Ship Loading facility Dampier WA, Hamersley processing plant in Tom Price WA etc.
Ones tools consisted of a multi meter, roll of circuit board wire and a pen like rotation device and the ability to code in Hex.

It's along time ago now, my first job as a trainee operator was on an IBM 360/135 operating under Dos/Vs, input to the machine was via punched cards and hole punched tape from Forex.Bandung_Dero wrote: ↑May 10, 2022, 6:44 pmBloody hell, back in my days there was no such thing as IT Con.....BillaRickaDickay wrote: ↑May 10, 2022, 12:20 pmBack in the good ole days of Main Frame computers, my business card had on it, dare I say it, " IT Consultant"
