i cant figure out why they could never get that road sorted out. for years it was like a minefield of bumps and ruts and holes .even when they relaid it it was bad. Then as if by magic they got it right .

Yep, that may be fixed up but the new terminal still isn't finished...

Nor is the "International" part of the title finished....... and I sort of hope never is

My guess about the terminal, with the traffic level Udon actually gets, and is likely to get, given that its hardly a hub to anywhere...it that its a bad idea gone worse.

Look at the equivalent, say East Midlands in the UK for those from there.... 105 passenger jet movements a day and 1 terminal barely bigger in passenger handling size than Udon...

Sounds like a fair comparison to me, must admit I had never thought of it quite like that, it's not near me, but i know a couple of guys living in the area and it does sound like it's more of a nightmare than a blessing...

Of course its a nightmare.. you have been through Heathrow....its not set up for the passengers. They tolerate it for the dubious privilege of moving from A to B

Its good business....unlike terminal 2 in Udon

Does anyone know, when the International terminal is completed, where will the "INTERNATIONAL" flights be to and from?

arjay,i believe the plan was for the budget carriers to fly within the region.( I remember Singapore for sure)I think the oil price has put a lid on any such plans.

The original concept descibed it as being" A convenient link to other Asian destinations" I notice there has been no improvement to the runways capacity, so it obviously won't be taking jumbo's.
Just a thought.Could it be a blind conceived to hide the movement of people from the Radio Station? It seems to serve no other useful purpose!!

Ps. It is noticable that further progress on the building has stalled, since the revelations were made.

Oh, I was hoping I might have been able to fly to Luang Prabang, Angor Wat, or somewhere exciting, within the region. It would also be a useful alternative for those needing to renew visas.

Once Nok Air has put all the local budget competition out of business, maybe it will move onto international business.Very nice of Thai Airways to lease it everything so cheaply. :)

Hardly surprising really..the relationship between Thai and Nok is a bit like, to use the same regional airport example as above, BMI and BMI Baby. Although, I guess, you knew this.

Not just the leasing...the infrastructure is common, engineering, rostering and scheduling etc. Occasionally a Thai (livery) aircraft operates the Nok BKK to UTH sector.

Soon no competition... I wonder what will happen to Nok prices then
