Both VFS and the British Embassy warn against using any agency.
The simple fact of the matter is that anyone with a little bit of savvy can do it for themselves for free !!
Rule number one be truthful
Substantiate your relationship by means fo records, Hotel receipts, plane tickets et etc

I did it and got the visa within 5 days, no problem.

The bottom line is if you are not prepared to guarantee you loved one or present you bank statements etc etc, you have not got a hope in hell.

Welcome to the UK Visa Aid. In terms of specialization within any modern economy, there will always be people who prefer to commit the time and effort to learning certain tasks. For others, it is worth the money to pay someone else who already has the special knowledge involved with the task. So, best of luck to them in finding the later here.

As an ethical and moral issue, why would any UK citizen want to assist a Thai national in settlement within the United Kingdom? I suppose "greed" is one reason. My understanding is that the UK is quite like the US in that a Thai national (or any other foreigner) can obtain permanent residency and then citizenship in a few years if he/she is married to a UK citizen. That foreigner then assumes all of the rights, privileges, and obligations of a UK citizen while retaining, contrary to law, his/her Thai citizenship.

Now, consider the UK citizen who marries the very same Thai national and would like to ascend to the rights, privileges, and obligations of a Thai citizen. Notwithstanding the fact that there may be children born to the marriage, the UK citizen is granted a one year visa, renewable yearly, based upon the UK citizen meeting certain financial benchmarks. It would be very difficult for him to obtain permanent residency and, for all intents and purposes, impossible to obtain Thai citizenship. The UK citizen would never be able to own land, vote, or pursue the occupation of his/her choice while the Thai spouse would be granted all of those accoutrements as a matter of right.

Welcome to the new service. However, a solicitor or barrister also has a duty to promote justice and fairness in law and not just be a hired gun. I think they need to ask themselves about the moral and ethical underpinnings of their endeavor.

Are you some how sugesting this service is immoral??? I just saw it as a service that helps walk people through the neccesary steps which to all of us was quite daunting. When my wife and I went through the process it took months and a small fortune to get a result. Since then we walked Two couples through the process and in both cases it only took a couple of weeks, and a small investment. I wish we could have done it a simpler way.

Instead of hijacking another companies thread, who have become sponsors of Udonmap, why don't you start your own topic if you want some free advertising. [-X
If I was part of UK Visa Aid I'd be well pissed off with you.

Hey HXJohn. I agree with Galee on this one. Are you affiliated with "Orchid of Siam"? If so, in what capacity?

i have nothing to do with any website promoting uk visa.s for thai partners the theard was not hijacked at all i myself was a customer of the website i posted info about which as usefull links to uk goverment sites
my post was 100 percent truthfull that i quote again you can use a agent to process your application but they must be registed with uk imigration services which the website i posted is registed and i have used them so have many others if you use a unregisted website and they find out which could happen if a interview is needed then the application will be null and void that is truth whey risk that at a stressfull time already
most pepole who have been married a while and have good proof and have means to surport there partner do not need the use of any agent
if my post is again deleted i shall start another post myself which is well within my rights to provide truthfull /usefull / and informative/ info
ps i am in udon thani at the moment if anybody would like to check my story out please feel free to pm me

i fully agreed with you .
i have my gf with me now.
the only thing what vfs did for me is send it of and received it back from bangkok, sure they were not to happy that i did it all but i dont care.
in the end they een tryed to get me to buy a plane ticket for my girl at twice the price i could get it.
it took me a long time to get all the apers together and ther were alot but when the embassy rang my girl in udon the only thing they asked her was how long has she knowen myself and what my full name was and when were we returning to australia and that was it.
and that was her first go at a visa.
the only advice i would give to anyone is to be honest translate all the thai papers into english and most of the time if you have known the girl for less than 6 months it would put a bit of a damber on it.

you are not talking about vfs but about the cowboys next door to them who are a visa application service with indeed the reputation of letting you pay far more then needed. VFS only collects the fees, your file and checks everything is there and then send it of to the BE

them cowboys works as a agency for vfs, like a courier company and if you would like the aplication done by them ,then they will help you for a fee
i notice their attitude changing as soon as they reallised that i knew what i needed to get and what i needed to do.
they were even seprised that i know all the prices what i had to pay because they asked me how i knew and i gave them the price list what i got of the internet, all i can say is just be carefull with that office and do your esearch first before you start putting applications in.

the embassy knows that most of the gal applicants coming in are ex hookers and BGs so it doesnt matter who you use , they can smell the hookers from a mile off ,especially when accompanied by a bloke that is old enough to be her grandfather.

I always presumed the UK embassy needs to be satisfied that the Thai citizen has a reason to come back to her country if they are going to sanction a 6 month visitors visa for her to the UK. What will an ex hooker or BG be able to show to them that they will come back?
Izzix,I think dressing appropriately at the interview might not be thought about by some ex hookers and BGs,maybe the farang also.As you say maybe they can smell them from a mile off (fags and booze? lol) but up close any tattoo on the lady will give them a clue also LOL.

John, the original UK Visa Aid post has not been removed, - quite the reverse.

In fact this thread was split off from the original post "UK Visa's for Thai citizens" Sponsors Ad, specifically because a debate was developing on a sponsors' Ad.

The original Advert still exists: - http://www.udonmap.com/udonthaniforum/v ... php?t=7343

John, thank you for the free advice.
As it turns out I'm not embarrased and I'm not wrong.
Advertising another companies product on a UdonMap Sponsors initial posting is wrong. Has the company you are sponsoring on UdonMap paid for their free advertising?

hxjohn, Galee is absolutely right.

And at the time you made your posting it was on the sponsor's advert/thread. The thread was split subsequently.

Would members please note that Sponsor's Ads are just that, not an invitation to have a go at them or debate their Ad, and certainly not the place to advertise other alternative organisations.

Thanks :D
