Well I can't thank anyone here for their help, because I didn't receive any. Not one reply.
However,I was fortunate enough to meet a bloke who sent me to a Hardware store Opposite the Bangkok Bank,on the third roundabout in Udon.
It's just the old fashioned type of shop I love pottering around, it seemed to have every thing. The Thai chap who owns it spoke excellent English, was a real cheerful type and was only too happy to show me around his old store. He had tools there of World War vintage, stuff you can't seem to get hold of in the modern super stores.
I bought a panel saw from Sweden and a Pruning saw made of Norwegian steel. Excellent quality and not expensive.I also bought a 3/8 bit for my trusty old brace. I thought I would never find one.
He also pointed out to me which were Japanese tools and which were Chinese copies. He had some Japanese cantilever pliers still wrapped in greaseproof paper from the 1940s Real top quality.
He didn't have a vacuum cleaner though.
What he did was to go through his huge list of suppliers, and as a result I am now the proud owner of a German made upright Vacuum cleaner, top of the range, quiet and efficient, and delivered to my home in less than a week.
I'll be going back to this store every time I need hardware stuff for the house, and just for an hour's browsing.
He doesn't sell beer though so I have to go before lunch time

Baz, as this is a thread for people buying and selling stuff, not all members bother to look here regularly.Baz The Fraz wrote:Well I can't thank anyone here for their help, because I didn't receive any. Not one reply.
If you had posted your query on the open forum I have no doubt you would have received plenty of friendly advice and leads -as is the norm for UdonMap.
