Are you sure it's 90 kms ? Khon Kaen is only about 110 kms from Udon.

more like 110km east of Udon. It is Sakon Nakhon province. KK is south of Udon.

It was the mention of the Udon Ring Road that threw me. Not convenient for Udon city centre, then ? No bad thing as I think the centre is dreadful and the only place in Thailand which has worse traffic than Bangkok.
