Fruit Trees
I know I've read this somewhere but can't find the thread. Can anyone tell me where I can buy fruit trees, mainly Avocado, Rambutam and Mangosteen, but will also look at other varieties. Not looking for hundreds of them maybe half a dozen of each. TY

Sorry but crap with the road names but.....
At the moment there is a large fair on at the open square near to the immigration office.
On one side the full length of the road is selling various plants and trees.
I am told, by the wife, there are many fruit tress and at good price.
If you want to get best price wait till the last day or 2 (though not sure when it finishes) and generally the prices are lowered.

The tungsrimeuang fair....open until 14dec, although the plant vendors tend to stay around a few days after.
Another opportunity should be in January at Khonkaen university......major agricultural/garden fair.....best prices. Not sure of the dates.....but I'll check in the next day or two.

The website is in Thai.....but the Khonkaen agricultural fair will be held 24 January 2014 - 2 Feburary 2014 at Khonkaen University. The fair is huge......prices for plants are better than most anywhere else/most any time. Orchids, flowers, trees, farm products/methods galore.
Have not seen anything like it anywhere else in Isaan.

A trip to Khonkaen is never complete (for us) without a pitstop at the restaurant, name in the photo below. It's in Khao Suan Kwang (เขาสวนกวาง), about 55km before reaching Khonkaen, left hand side, about 40m before the Bangkok Bank. It's been in operation since 30 Oct 2530 (27 some odd years). The chicken is the best......but their pork lahb is also one of my favorites. Great freshly squeezed orange juice in front. Clean bathrooms.
We went to the fair today.....a perfect day to go.......not crowded, easy to park. Probably won't be that way over the weekend, but should be easier to park on weekdays next week.

We went back to the fair again today.....after visiting a friend in Sri Nakarin Hospital. Among the many things we saw:
broccoli, a wide variety of fresh lettuce, cowboy stuff and people who wear cowboy stuff, wicked good ice-cream from ChokChai Farms, and a $7000 chicken (uncooked).
If you've always wanted to sit on a water buffalo.......you can.....on top a 4 year old one....said to be the non-bucking variety!

Also went there yesterday, so big I missed you Parrot.Anyhow it's open until the 2nd Feb. Very worth seeing . For those not used to the area, coming from Udon turn right at the first traffic lights, just before hospital. The campus is very large and the fair is at the back in the agriculture section . Just follow the red arrows on the posts and tree's .Plenty of parking not far from show ground .(Free). The variety of things on offer is amazing from fruit tree's to dogs.Fish to farming equipment .Plenty of places to sit down and eat, no beer because it's on education land .for me the highlight was the Agriculture College building with many displays including rice cultivation and silk weaving. Some photo's to whet the appetite .

Travelling from town round the ring road so that you turn LEFT towards Tesco, on the same side as Tesco but about 300 yards before, there is a side road on the left (indicated by an outdoor place selling wooden poles). Down this road there are many garden centres. Yesterday, I purchased lemon trees, pomegranate, mango and papaya which were planted this afternoon.
