Lid for new Vigo. Aeroklas Aviator preferably.

Post by robinudon » August 13, 2012, 4:02 pm

Hi all,

New White Vigo 4x4 coming at the weekend, looking to buy a lid for the liner, as above. This one lifts at an angle from the back, or straight up in 2 positions.
Have a price from a shop off the Prince roundabout at 26,000.
Don't know if this is a competetive price or a walk up farang price, anyone have any experience in these lids.

I am also open to any other suggestion rather than the Aeroklas, it just seemed to suit my needs.

Thanks,

Rob

Not sure about the Aeroklas brand but I recently bought a Carryboy rollbar from Paddap Yow on Hai Yak Gomluang. Thats the road going from the statue roundabout towards the bus station. They are on your right as you go . There are several shops along there stocking these items . You will see some out the front .Not sure about the price as I only bought the rollbar as you cannot fit a lid when you have one of those fitted. That was 8k. However I don't think the lid assembly was any where near 26k.They are the main Carryboy dealer .Mine was the four door model though, which may be smaller .
Ageing is a privilige denied to many .

Bought an electrically operated Aeroklas lid 4 years ago, at the main Toyota dealer in Pattaya.....20 K, so 26 now is not too bad. BTW bought a Vigo to go with it, at the same time :D :D

"Top UP" lids are a superior and better looking product than the Aeroklas lids. 26k seems expensive unless it has electric motor operation. 19k for my Top Up 4 years ago, 20k for my mates last year. Both 4 door Vigos, both bought from Big Sun near the entrance to the air force base on the inner KK rd, opposite side of the road 200 yards.

Yep, they have been the biggest selling lid in the UK for the past 5 years, made in, and exported from Thailand (but triple the price!).
The struts, dampers, and lift/lock mechanism is all heavier duty. The fibreglass is thicker and stronger. And they look better. No brainer really. You may have to wait 4-5 days, if they do'nt have your colour in stock.
Regards,
Mike.

Just been to Big Sun.
Top Up & Aeroklas are both 26,000, she discounted to 25,000 but said she could talk to big boss.
Top Up has hard fibreglass around the egdes & Aeroklas is flexible material around the edge.
Not sure which would be better but I think Aeroklass for me.

Like the look of Aviator model they have, told the long haired translator it is best coz it comes with girls in bikinis, just like the brochure.........she thought that was very funny.....not!!!!
