Mcdonalds French Fries

Post by saint » June 5, 2009, 7:31 am

You will find that mcds and the like cannot call thier fries chips or french fries , because they do not contain any thing even close to potatoes !!!!! if my memoey serves me right they are in fact made from maize , hence they have to call them fries ..........chips , french fries , and crispes are all potato based products .

MacDonalds' fries are certainly non-processed, fresh from the farm potatoes and among the best. For decades MacDonalds has carefully managed its supply of potatoes by contracting with large farms to meet its specifications and schedules. They do the same with all their suppliers. The suppliers become rich and MacDonalds maintains its carefully planed standards and inventories. MacDonalds has been very loyal to its suppliers, preferring stability and low risk to the etermal search for the lowest bidder. It's a great company with hard-working and smart management and a finely tuned business plan.

Well maybe thats the case with McD's in the US but as someone who has worked on several McD's construction projects in the UK I can assure you they are indeed in the eternal search for the lowest bidder!
After one particular project where Ronald put even more strain on than usual I snapped and my company backed me up and told The Clown to stick his fries where the sun don't shine.
Totally unprofessional people that seemed in fear of their jobs should they not try to screw every last penny out of their contractors.

Roy, in many years as an owner's rep in the construction industry, I have yet to meet a contractor who wasn't being "screwed" when asked to provide a competitive price for his work. :D

With regards to McDonalds french fries, maize (corn) is a new one on me. I had heard in the past that they made their fries out of turnips. Begging the question that both corn and turnips are more costly than potatoes. To say nothing of the processing costs to get those substances to taste like potatoes.

For McDonalds lovers, they use potatoes, I worked on a farm that was on contract to the McD company. One year (2003) the quota was 700 ton's, we had a good crop and it yeiled 1500 ton. They took delivery of the 700 ton and we had to dump the excess.

Those particular seed potatoes, dont know the name, were delivered to our farm and all we had to do was grow to the finished product. And those potatoes I can tell you are only fit for use in fries, they are no good as mashed or roasted...taste terrible, better potatoes around.

Maize, Potato's,Turnips or Cardboard......I like them any way.
And they won't ever be called chips...because its American, and they don't use this term to describe chips..they use 'chip's to talk about Crisps.. yeah i know crazy ain't it....
Fanny is a bottom in the US.....but our 'fanny' is summing else,(a ladys front bottom) well not used to much today but in my school days it was used a fair bit.......
Now chips is a shortened name for Chipped potatoes, don't think it matters what the girth of the chipped finished product is though.....same same wood chips....derived from wood that has been 'chipped'...although not advised to be fried and eaten, ok if you are a beaver i suppose or a small wood lice.

Why do they taste sooooo good....

Prospects...huh, what you on about or what are you on. Those contracts for McD and other produce grown on the farm paid for the farm and 3 of the 5 kids of the farm owner's went on to Uni and received their degrees. When they are on their holiday breaks, guess where they end up....back at the farm helping out.

The other 2 kids now have their own farms, growing produce and raising beef cattle, albeit they have a mortgage. And they have contracts with large companies, so sometime in the future they will not have a mortgage and work in a great environment.

Without any prospects........I think the east europeans are laughing all the way to the bank, with your shortsight reasonings of a sh.t job. I pity England if this is the view of the English people. Sh.t job, get someone else to do it. I thought you lot were better than that.

Oh no, English people really are like that. There's a vast underclass of British people that believe in claiming state benefit for having lots of kiddies by different fathers (that's just the girlies though) or pretending to have debilitating diseases. Others claim state benefit then work for cash. Meanwhile, East Europeans and Asians (Chinese, Philippina and Thai) come into the UK and take these so called ---- jobs, sending some of the money home while paying a level of tax to the British Government. The fact is that the UK needs these low paid immigrant workers to keep the economy going because Blitish people won't accept the so-called ---- work.

That's how it is.

I really love McDonalds French fries. I can eat 2 ordered large fries, but lately I don’t have time to go to McDonalds that’s why I bought French fries cutter.
If you make french fries regularly then having a specialized potato cutter can be a real help in the kitchen. A French fry cutter is the best kitchen accessory if you want to produce your own home made fries. Make loads of fries in minutes. Metal and plastic construction with a sharp stainless steel cutting grid makes this unit as it is functional, includes two stainless steel cutting plates, one for regular fries and one for shoestring fries.

I'm not a real fan of McDonalds other to commend them for the great start in life they gave my Daughters. They started part time work (after school and weekends) from the age of 14. By 17 my elder daughter was a store manager. To cut a long story short by the age of 25 she was and is now the Western states (WA SA & NT) Manager for a major movie and entertainment chain and doing great things in retail, her chosen profession.
