Brexit fallout just gets worse and worse

Post by Whistler » May 21, 2023, 2:25 pm

I remember watching the results come in with my colleagues in Sydney, we were dumbfounded that Britain left the common market, and the craziness of the decision still reverberates.

Absolutely do not agree ...

The people voted and gave their choice (not interested in so called falsehoods spouted by both sides leave n remain) , most of the ensuing problems were down to various parties and remainers with any clout doing all they could to fudge Brexit and derail the democratic vote ....following on from June 2016 spoiling tactics are still being by used by the wrecked political system the UK currently finds itself in thus making many things worse including a successful Brexit.

For every downside of Brexit there are pluses ..

Firstly , UK did not vote to leave the EEC, it voted to leave the European Union.
Whereas IMO. the EEC was a beneficial trading block , the EU became involved in trying to control all aspects of peoples lives. The EU never posted a budget account, and millions of cash went unaccounted for.
The common agricultural policy and to a large extent The common fisheries policy benefited only France.
If the unelected UK civil service supported by MSM and of course the unelected House of Lords had accepted the will of the majority instead of blocking it at every turn, then Brexit would have been successful.

Only problem is ........ Every "downside" in crippling Britain whilst Every one of the "pluses" are in EU's favour

Must say I think even Nigel Farage & co would be amazed at the blind faith Brexiteers have shown in the face of all the conclusive evidence against them .......... and lets face it Britain is in for yet another hit later in the year when the next part of Brexit comes on line

I thought the entire rationale of Brexit was so the Brit boomers could get their blue passports back.

Perhaps I need to do some more reading. 8)

They get to be shafted just the same as everyone else, so they are being treated the same as normal people which is exactly how they keep saying they want to be treated

Blimey that was a long time ago ...... I remember 1/11d a 1/2pint bottle back in the day when I worked the bar, coz we stood a bottle up every time a customer brought us one and then took the cash at nights end (replacing the bottles on the shelf for sale)

Does anyone give a flying fig what happens in the UK? We're happy here so let them get on with whatever they want.

Unfortunately the answer is YES, because the shambles they make over there has an impact over here

It does? More than the frozen pension thing? I always thought it was when America poops in the bed, the whole world has to lie in it.

Just watching Rishi looking all beleaguered with all sorts of excreta hitting the diffuser over his awful Foreign Secretary. Is he up to enforcing the three strikes rule? Listening to a Nicky Campbell phone-in on Five Live earlier and one caller hit the nail on the head in that after Boris's serial shenanigans saw him undone and their "whack-a-mole" successor selection process, the Tory talent pool is totally dry. They should go to the Palace en masse and beg to throw the towel in. Which, after acceptance, they should all be marched off to The Tower (and not the nightclub in Hull one either).
