Well that's a good point. We all assume Jason has good hearing because he's only 40 but for all we know he could be deaf as a post and bimbling around town with his hearing aid turned down. It could lead to a lot of confusion.

Just a general note on deafness if i may.

Lots of people suffer from poor hearing even under 40 and can lead to confusion and misunderstandings, agreed its more common in older people though as it gets worse as you get older, but not everyone has problems and not everyone realize they have acute deafness, there are very good devices out in the market now though.

Well, apart from the stranger characters that indulge their darker side, there are girls out there that are just too busy with their full time work to look for chaps.
