A recent poll states that over 66% of NZer's prefer to keep the old flag.

If people are concerned about the OZ and NZ flags being similar then why isn't Aussie voting on a changed flag?

I like this one for us - You can keep yours or change - Up to you.

Yes, but sadly there's no Bondy leading the challenge.

Key hasn't put all his coins in the game and doesn't have the charisma to drive the change.

I read a while ago that Tory voters are keener on a change in flags than Labour supporters as the issue seems to have become a bit politicized. None of the proposed new flags get me going but I want a change. I think the red peak one is crap.

Key seems to have been hoping for a distinctive flag that could be used to help market NZ exports in Asia. The current one doesn't distinctively say "New Zealand".

You should have been on the committee picking the best alternative flags noosard. A long nosed chicken alternative would have got the public stirred up. That seems more interesting than a Kiwi.

Personally I prefer Warnie or Crocodile Dundee on a new Aussie flag rather than a Kangaroo. My next choice would be some cricket wickets next to a couple of dozen empty cans of VB.

I think it might get as hot in this thread as a January afternoon in Perth ...

I would have liked the koru flag (the unfurling fern) if it had been a nice green rather than black. For those not potentially represented by a long nosed chicken that's the one papafarang called funky. Probably too much of a change though.
