Today (USA) is National Fried Rice Day
History
Fried rice appeared in China as early as 510-620 AD. This cooking method was borrowed from Malaysia or Indonesia – in these countries, fried rice is a national dish.

The celebration of National Fried Rice Day only began in 2018, when the first Japanese restaurant in the United States, Benihana, offered to celebrate this day to enjoy their favorite dish. Later, fried rice was served in ordinary American restaurants – the dish was supplemented with various ingredients, depending on the desires of the cook.

Fried rice has millions of fans around the world. This dish is made and eaten with pleasure, both in Asia and the USA, Europe, and Latin America. Its main feature is variability. You can use any meat, different types of rice and many vegetables. Each person can create a dish according to their taste.

Interesting facts
In Japan and China, rice is associated with wealth. For this reason, it is thrown at the newlyweds at a wedding.
About 7 tons of rice are consumed every year in the world.
Rice is the staple food for about half of the world’s population.

Queen Elizabeth II had a stand-in to make sure the sun won’t get in her eyes
Ella Slack has a similar height and stature to the queen, so before big events, she’ll do a rehearsal to avoid any royal pains like the sun getting in Her Majesty’s eyes. Slack had been doing it for three decades but wasn’t allowed to sit in the throne, so she had to squat above it.

Supporting statements can be found at a) Queen Elizabeth II stand-in's duties b) Ella Slack's duties etc

The shortest war in history lasted 38 minutes
When the sultan of British-protected Zanzibar died and a new one took over without British approval in 1896, the Brits were not happy. Tension escalated when Sultan Khalid bin Barghash refused to step down, but the British warships spent less than 40 minutes bombarding the palace before Khalid fled, marking the (very quick) end of the Anglo-Zanzibar War.

It's 'feat', Doodoo, not 'feet'.

That's approximately 200 souls - or 400 feet - per ship!

Unsinkable Sam the Cat

"Unsinkable Sam" was the nickname given to this cat, who was actually named Oscar. He started as a ship's cat aboard the Nazi ship Bismarck, which was sunk by the British ship HMS Cossack in 1941. The British crew found the cat floating on a board hours after the ship sank, took him aboard, and named him Oscar.

Later in the war, the Cossack sank after being hit by a torpedo, killing 159 crew members. Oscar survived again and was rescued along with the remaining crew, and given the nickname "Unsinkable Sam." His last service was aboard the HMS Ark Royal, an aircraft carrier that was ALSO torpedoed, this time by a Nazi U-boat. Oscar survived that attack as well, and afterward retired to Belfast, where he lived in a seaman's home. Oscar died in 1955, a full 14 years after the sinking of the Bismarck.

The fourth Grey Cup saw the Toronto Argonauts make their second straight Grey Cup appearance, and they lost again. The Hamilton Alerts bounced the Scullers 11-4, on 30 November 1912 in the steel city. Hamilton never got the Cup because the University of Toronto said the Varsity Blues had to beaten first before they would relinquish it. The game almost was cancelled because no-one could find a football. The man in charge of the ball had locked it inside a room and disappeared with the key. Someone kicked the door in, which cost $1.75 to replace, and the final began about an hour late.

It seems that Queen Anne's lace might even be an older contraceptive than the crocodile dung used in old Egypt and Mesopotamia.
Queen Anne’s lace has been used as an effective form of birth control for thousands of years. It is considered one of the old forms of birth control, as some people still use it today as a contraceptive.

Sometimes referred to as wild carrot, Queen Anne’s lace was famously described by Hippocrates more than 2,000 years ago as an oral contraceptive.

Unfortunately, Queen Anne’s lace chemically resembles hemlock, which is highly toxic.

UPDATE
"It seems that Queen Anne's lace might even be an older contraceptive than the crocodile dung used in old Egypt and Mesopotamia."

Around 4,000 years ago in Ancient Egypt, women were shoving crocodile turds up their vaginas in a bid to keep babies at bay. Shocking? Yes. Upsetting? A bit. Laughable? Well, no. Not really. To be clear, this tactic is far from advisable compared to modern-day options. Even so, it’s quite reasonable to suspect this horrifying method sorta kinda probably worked. "
