Khondahm - I'm surprised it took you so long to realise your son had been sleeping in p1ss, I'd have known the same day if any of any of my kids were sleeping in p1ss. Though I'd get someone else to clean it up.
KHONDAHM wrote:I mean, if I could SEE the piss and SMELL the piss, why then couldn't she? Why doesn't she wash the mattress regularly as I had assumed she'd been doing until yesterday? I'm talking it must have been weeks if not months already.
KHONDAHM wrote:Her attitude is like: "Well, yes I clean him and lay him down in piss but how was I supposed to know there is piss on the mattress when the mattress isn't wet?" As if he has to be laying up with rashes and worse in some hospital before it becomes a concern. Or: "Yes I see him playing with a live extension cord, but you stopped him before he hurt himself.

OT's got kids and they do get up to mischief, especially at an early age when they are into everything. I'm glad you are a concerned parent KHONDAHM, however you seem to be overdoing it here a little bit. Kids will fall off beds and also hurt themselves in other ways whatever you do. I don't suppose your kid putting it's finger into a live electrical socket or biting through the cable would have done him much good but it never happened so stop worrying about it. To watch a kid 24/7 is not easy. Leaving a child within earshot in a safe environment wouldn't be a bad idea ? I'm sure your child will be fine with your wife taking care when you are away on business. relax.

OT.............. \:D/

Khondahn, was she the same way, caring and attentive, with your daughter?

I think the whole Thai society lacks "common sense" and parental instincts. It has been commented many times on many other threads of how the Thai men have vertually abandon their kids. I don't think they concider "parenting" as one of their duties. My wife's 2 boy's (ages 17 and 21) father has talked to them maybe 5 times in their life and he lives about a mile away. Never has paid any support for them.

The 21yo is turning out like his father. His girlfriend gave birth to their daughter a week ago Friday. My wife almost had to threaten his life to get him to give his girlfriend money so she could go to the doctor for regular checkups and pre-natal care. Even with that, he doesn't give her anything to help with the everyday expenses.

It seems that there is consistently a problem with people in this country who agree to do or not do something, then they do exactly what they agree they would not do or don't do what they agreed they would do. THEN when the problem you foresaw arises, they act like YOU are the ass for getting upset because of the problem THEY caused. They see themselves and behave as if THEY, not you, are "the victim" and mope around for sympathy like YOU are the bad guy.

IT PISSES ME OFF!!! :badteeth:

Vent over.
  Is that the first time you vented on that topic since you have been here? :-s
I couldn't believe how upset I got yesterday when I picked my almost 19 yr.old daughter up from school! Her hair was ''bowl cut'' at ear level. Some teacher(not one that she knows)walked up to her group, told my daughter to come with her.She took her in a room ,emphatically ntold her that her hair was to ''wispy'' on the side,it should be worn thicker, proceeded to cut her hair ,while telling her,if she ever wore it like that again, she would not be allowed in this school! My daughter is a senior, presently testing for Universities and this was her first day back from break!

No teachers in the classes because this is the beginning of prepping for sports week, but some gestapo ''teacher'' is cruising the campus to chop hair?

take my word for it,her hair was not some weird hairdo,it was the shortest that she had ever worn it.the problem was it was to wispy on the side ends. Many of the girls are wearing their hair the same,so my first thoughts were that she is the darkest in skin color of her group and relatively new to the teacher as she has only been there for 2 1/2 years,an obvious low class outsider! This school was recommended because it had an ''English program'', she can speak and understand English(but with very poor grammar),since she had to ''test'' in English to be admitted, passed easily while finding the test quite easy, but wasn't admitted to the ''English program'' because she wasn't M-1,she was transferring as M-3,WTF is wrong with this f.....g country?

Funny thing is that my daughter doesn't think it looks so bad,I just hate the fact that she is a girl that studies like crazy, asks questions with some thirst for knowledge while her classmates cheat on tests, copy her homework etc.etc. and the school system personel could care less, receiving bonuses of 100K-200K  ,for doing what?

My daughter has tried to fit in the social world of school, but has got her confirmation now that there is a difference between cheating and not cheating,All her classmates have been unable to understand and have any confidence that they might have done well on some of the entrance exams, although some were very difficult,my daughter feels she has done OK,but complains that many questions were on topics she had never heard about before
This is a similar kind of Victorian attitude of my daughters school.
She is a pupil at Mary Phittak school.
They had a "outing"....(Na Luang) to a Temple at " Ban Phue" 4 days.
No food allowed, no cell phone.
So time to bed is 10pm woken up at 3am. they have one meal(Only cabbage and noodles of some kind!) Thats it till next day!
After meal, preaching all day till bed time..... and I mean all K'in day!
She tells me one girl was caught munching bag of chips/crisps.
Teacher caught her, made her stay outside all night. The temperature was 7deg!
The poor girl was in tears in the morning!
So no cell fone, what if a member of family got to die or what ever?
What will they say? probably put their hands up say "MAI Ben RAI" ....Silly stupid people!
I want move her to another school But My daughter says all schools same.
This religion thing really sucks what a waste of time!
They cut her hair, I'll go ape sh*t like the did with Stans girl,
But the cowards got the law on their side!
Why cant they get real! Its 2010!

Morti . My son went on the same outing . He took a cell phone but as the temple was miles up into the mountains sometimes we couldn't get a signal but his teacher had a different provider and generally we could get him on that .
As for food . He has a tremendous appetite and said he was never hungry. A normal meal offering was the usual som tum, sticky rice fried on sticks, noodles and soup, though he does admit they were economical with the meat. At bedtime they all had a mug of ovaltine before retiring. You must remember the purpose of this trip was to give the kids a taste of self discipline as led by the normal monks .It wasn't meant to be a joy ride. The tale about the crisps I would take with a pinch of salt.

gentlemen, while I agree with many of your observations regarding schools and their apparent idiotic rules, let me inform you of the reasons , which although I do not agree. do in some instances make sense.
1: haircuts, in order to bring some uniformity to school dress, it is normally the norm for boys as well as girls hair to be above the collar of the top they are wearing, the reasons are so that they ( as I was told) to see if the necks were clean.
Now that might be a bit tall for some to swallow but they tend to stick rigidly to that rule even in Ratchinutit they enforce it, however if you know just make sure your childrens hair is above the collar, as it seems to be a long standing acceptance that teachers WILL cut the hair of a child whose hair is below the collar, you may rant and rave, to no avail, I have said quite forcefully that the local plod would be arresting the teacher who touched my daughters hair ( twins ) with anything other than a hand, a note to tell us would suffice. To date nothing has ever been said.

In regard to phones, that I can understand as a Thai childs addiction to a mobile phone is so damn intrusive that banning phones for a field trip especially to a monastry is understandable, the teacher as you stated was in touch the majority of the time. But the phones are a bloody nuisance in schools let alone outside them .

As for feeding what can I say, I have no idea of the feeding regime of school trips, but any I saw in the school the standard of food left much to be desired, it is no wonder the children are hungry.

Hope this sheds some light on some of the problems.

As for hair cutting, I pay for my daughter education,A teacher teach ...not a hairdresser! my daughter has her hair in a bun at the back so there is no excuse to cut it....they just better not!
They have a problem with that ,call me we can talk about it!
Who the hell they think they are ! without pupils, they are losers!
But Thai got no stomach to complain.
Cell fones , yes can keep with teachers can! But in case of emergency, what happens there?
Necks clean? You believe that? just more Thai B/S ! Its just keep the people down.Mak them think they so Chun soon!

I think it could be taken care of easily as far as the haircutting goes. Just tell them that if anyone(Teacher) touches your child, you'll be down to the school to touch them!

Good point Morti, Its hard for me to say as I dont have any Kids yet but i think the mrs would have to do alot to stop me. Kids are just kids you know and I finf it shocking that these things actually happen. When i was 14 I got the crap kicked outta me by a marist brother in my school and the next day my father went in and licked the crap outta him!

I know its just a haircut but the thought of someone doing that to a child is just awful!

This does not sound very appetising. Did he go back for seconds?

The policy of the Toronto District School Board toward electronics (cell phones, i-pods, mp3 players et al) is that they will be confiscated if found with a student at any time the school is open (7 in the morning until 6 at night). This includes lunch time. The seized article will be put in the office vault and released to the student at the end of class time (3:30 p.m.) A repeat offender will have the electronic device put in the vault overnight. A third time offender will have to have their parents come in and request that the device be returned.

I asked a police officer about this policy and he said it sounded like theft by the school to him.

The upshot is that students are required to keep any electronic devices in their lockers and out of sight inside the high school.

Very funny, its a term that is used from my country The unfortunate thing is that you knew exactly what i meant.

You obviously think cell phones should be allowed in schools along with mp3's etc. Just to let you know they arent allowed in any private schools in Ireland but Im not sure about public ones and rightly so.

A cell phone and a haircut by a teacher however are two completely differnt things

Now you should go back to that police officer and ask him to arrest the culprits then, see what happens!

You are definitely expressing my ''feelings'',but that would be a big falang mistake in Thailand! [-X You don't want to be touching a Thai in Anger!Beside family reprecussion considerations,if they should bleed from your touching, you most likely will be deported.Even honest self defense of life and property can be a problem, especially if it is your word against theirs as most of the time(but not always) you will not find a Thai that will witness against a Thai, mainly for the first reason, but also because you are a falang!

You wouldn't want to take the odds against you that a Thai will witness for you!

I'm not talking about being a coward,I'm talking about understanding how things really are, knowing and understanding your living environment and using prudent judgement concerning your actions and involvement! :-k

My kids go to Bocso. I never seen any signs of long hair penalties and cell phones are allowed for 5th graders and up.

I have a step son that went to public school he would sometimes come home with a landing strip on his head, given to him by the teacher for not having a hair cut. Which I didn't have a problem with, as those are the school rules. If there's a requirement to maintain hair length standards than they should be followed or suffer the consequences. If you don't agree than find another school.

Misunderstanding...I probably confiscate more electronics than anyone at the high school. Thus, I will not be asking the good police officer to arrest anyone soon. I follow Board policy.

Lol, good man Laa yan!

The policy of the haircuts just seems a bit barbaric to me and stans point is well taken that you cant really win that one. I suppose Id have to be in the position to really know what id do. I was brought up to believe that nobody has the right to touch a child except their parents and I suppose this is where a cultural difference occurs. I got knocked around by both my mother and father and it did me no good what so ever so i dont think ill be touching my kids, lol.

Stan without looking back way through this thread I think it was your child that had her hair cut. I couldnt work that one out as it seemed neat and tidy before it was cut and it wasnt like a mad do or something. Maybe Id set the wifey on them. She'd probably do a better Job than me anyway!

What a great daughter! She know how I am and feel!I made a comment something like,''I would like to get my hands on that teacher,I would give her a H/C she wouldn't forget'',my daughter says.''it's OK daddy,it doesnst look so bad''!
The next week,''the big teacher''spoke to the school assembly announcing that all students would have their haircuts checked on that Friday.Friday came and nobody came around checking H/C's!

The insult to me is the importance they make about the hair, while they have no concern for motivating and teaching the students, nor is their any career planning or guidance. It seems to me ,they just don't really care!

could you as the parent make it very clear without threatening anybody that if the school or teacher thinks your childs hair is to long could they notify you or your wife and you will have her hair cut, surely one day will not hurt the schools hair rules.i think these thai school teachers have a bit to much power for my liking.
