Re: I was thinking
Maybe he recognises your wheezy cough OT .......... or perhaps your the only one who sorts out your coins before giving him the smallest one !!
Re: I was thinking
This time last year when OT was at tungsi muang and playing that fishing game where you catch a ball and then take it to be opened and reveal a number and win a packet of biscuits, I was thinking if it was ever possible to win a better prize like the honda wave. My wife told me today that our youngest son won a bicycle today playing the same game. So if anyones looking for a new bicycle to run around on I'm sure he will sell it for the right money.

Re: I was thinking
OT was thinking - Why? would anyone consider giving up work below, lets say 60. Easy answer - bone idleness. I dont want to hear anyone saying that they have enough money coming in not to work. What makes the top musicians, authors, actors, second hand car salesmen etc etc keep on working after they've made their money? not bone idleness is it? Udon Thani will never have lifes top achievers because, except for the pensioners over 60 and the people working, they are all bone idle.

Re: I was thinking
Yes we can and I did, having worked for 36yrs for HMG why the hell shouldn't I, not bone idleness just good practical common-sense, so many people work until they are 65 + then retire and then die as they are bored to death. If you retire earlier you can at least take up other activities which can lead to possibly another career or at least something that keeps you going well into your 80's.
Re: I was thinking
Sounds like you might have a narrow view of what ''top achievers'' represents!Care to elaborate?old-timer wrote:OT was thinking - Why? would anyone consider giving up work below, lets say 60. Re: I was thinking
Coz if I had kept on working my quack said I wouldn't live 'til 60 .......... might yet be proved correct even without the work.

Re: I was thinking
Not really. But cutting my toe nails the other day the other I thought to myself "if I had a big gut, this wouldn't be that easy".stattointhailand wrote:Are you putting on a pound or two then GaleeGalee wrote:I was thinking. How do fat people cut their toe nails?

Re: I was thinking
Try doing it SOBER next time
Must admit that it's getting harder to do ........ not coz of a beer gut ........... more the fact that my eyes have trouble focusing at that distance (too far for reading glasses and not far enough for distance glasses)

Re: I was thinking
Very important point Galle - OT took a few years off and lived in Thailand and when I was doing that I got up to 94kg. Not easy to cut your toe nails carrying all that weight unless your about 7 ft tall. Since those days and I wanted to go back to work I got back to 78kg and have never been over 80kg since. Another thing - money has never come into OT going to work. I could of and still can easily remain bone-idle in UT but don't want to look like those guys under 60 who are not working.Galee wrote:I was thinking. How do fat people cut their toe nails?
OT............not ploppy.........
Re: I was thinking
OT, Ever seen a movie called Con Air? There is a scene in it where Steve Buscemi is making a point.....Im paraphrasing here ''A guy gets up every morning and goes to work for 50 years, then he retires and dies shortly after.....And people call me crazy!''
Re: I was thinking
In early Greece the pursuit of leisure wasn't looked upon as laziness or uselessness. Total leisure led to greater self-knowledge which was the highest purpose in life.old-timer wrote:OT was thinking - Why? would anyone consider giving up work below, lets say 60. Easy answer - bone idleness.
Here's a few quotes I found relevant when deciding to quit work early-
No ones dying words have ever included, "I wish I had worked more".
All paid jobs absorb and degrade the mind. - Aristotle
Oh to reach the point of death and realize one has not lived at all! - Henry David Thoreau
The morality of work is the morality of slaves.
We are put here on this earth to fart around; don't let anyone tell you any different. -Kurt Vonnegut
Nothing wrong with working well into your old age if you are enjoying it. But if you get nothing out of it
besides a paycheck that you no longer need, why spend your life that way?
Re: I was thinking
Brilliant post Jello!
Re: I was thinking
OT would put working as a past time, on a scale of one to ten where ten is the lowest, at 10. The money comes in well handy though.
I thought that I would give everyone a bit of advise when it comes to cleaning your keyboard. Never spray it with the cleaning spray and then wipe it with a tissue. Here's why - The tissue will break up and deposit pieces in between each key. Trying to fish the pieces of tissue out with a paper clip is impossible, the tissue just moves under they keys.
