I believe that if you cut your speed from say 110 to 90 then you will increase your mpg by ten per cent.Have been having a go this week but the inter Province buses can make that speed and it can be a bit hairy as they approach and overtake on a hill bend.

I believe (but please correct me those in UK if its wrong) that the tax on petrol (gasoline) in UK is round about 80 %

My math is crap and almost as bad as my conversions - but I think that 97pence per litre equates to about 1 dollar 45 per litre and into gallons is about 6 dollars 60 per gallon.

So pity given where due :(

here diesel is (last time I filled 3/4 days ago) 23.46 per litre (baht) with gasoline a couple of baht over that - which (roughly) equates to about 33 or 34 pence per litre.

Still expensive for here - considering a days pay can be less than 200 baht (3 pounds). Therefore a days pay would buy you about 8 litres of petrol - less than 2 gallons.

If an 'average' UK wage was say 40 pounds per day then for one days pay you could buy less than 2 gallons of petrol - that would make it more than 20 pounds a gallon - relatively speaking. - so it shows how expensive (comparitively) it is here currently.

there is logic in here somewhere and apologies if it sounds like crap - but I will try not to write next time when I can hardly keep my eyes open LOL
it is rather late here and well past sleeping time :(

Makes sense to me also. Figure the month wage here is around $200 per month, while hamburger flippers in the states get around $1200 per month and the difference between the price of gas is pennies per gallon. Maybe its me, but back around Feb, traffic was heavy here in Udon, now most times the highway is empty :!: diesel is now 23.89 most places, but did find some at 23.77

To look at the price update. LOOP is up and running. Gas prices will not come down as there are 4 refineries that will not come up soon that represents 5% or US consumption. Prices do not retreat any time soon.

An interestiing side note: The country of Kuwait is sendin US$5,000,000 of refined products to the US free to help with the relief. Wonder how that will be distributed?

They are quite common in Bangkok. Wish they had them in the states. The conversions are around but the station s are a bit rare. They are being put in but are just not common. About 20 years ago Diesel was like that not real common but now everywhere. Hope cng get to be very common. EVEN IN UDON

I'm sure it will become more popular over time :).

Just out of curiosity, have you any ideas how much the conversion costs, just an average.

Ominous bit on petrol prices in UK on BBC News site today:
Retailers such as BP and Shell have been considering how to alter their forecourt signs in anticipation of diesel prices rising above ๏ฟฝ1 a litre.
ฃ1 per litre (ฃ4.55/Imperial Gallon) :( at today's exchange rate would equate to 75.4 Baht/Litre :(, USD 1.85/litre, USD 8.41/Imperial Gallon, or USD 7.00/US Gallon. :(

Is there any evidence of people economising in the UK with petrol prices where they are?
