Here is the great Cab Calloway performing the song he wrote in 1934, 'Minnie the Moocher'.

And this is M. Calloway at age 88, performing the same song with the same energy. The lyrics have a few drug references: ' The lyrics are heavily laden with drug references. The character "Smokey" is described as "cokey", meaning a user of cocaine; the phrase "kick the gong around" was a slang reference to smoking opium.' - wiki

Awesome! Thijs van Leer and Jan Akkerman. Brings back memories of my yoof (before I discovered Wigan Casino). But I digress.

For those in doubt Genesis is still around but with a different band. If Steve Hackett's band does not bring goose bumps to actual progressive rock fans well then I can't help further.

Oh and if that didn't do it for you, my god start 16:00 and hear actual music at it best if you don't have the time. The offbeat drums in 9/8 alone set this so far ahead of its time:

My god we are so fortunate to live at the same time as the fellows both past and present musicians of that band. I admit that I did like Gabriel's voice better in the day but Nad does a fair job in modern time to bring these classic's to us again.

Just damn, they are good! Looking for tickets to the 50 years of Foxtrot tour!
I fear the man who drinks water and so remembers this morning what the rest of us said last night

Buddy Holly, Rave On - 1958

Gary Busey did a credible performance of Buddy singing this song at the Apollo Theatre in Harlem

Here is the Canadian singer, Alannah Myles from Buckhorn, Ontario performing her hit song 'Black Velvet' that was written by two Canadians as a tribute to Elvis Presley.

Lyrics
Mississippi in the middle of a dry spell
Jimmie Rodgers on the Victrola up high
Mama's dancin' with a baby on her shoulder
The sun is settin' like molasses in the sky
The boy could sing, knew how to move, everything
Always wanting more, he'd leave you longing for
Black velvet and that little boy's smile
Black velvet with that slow southern style
A new religion that'll bring ya to your knees
Black velvet if you please
Up in Memphis, the music's like a heatwave
White lightning, bound to drive you wild
Mama's baby's in the heart of every schoolgirl
"Love Me Tender" leaves 'em cryin' in the aisle
The way he moved, it was a sin, so sweet and true
Always wanting more, he'd leave you longing for
Black velvet and that little boy's smile
Black velvet with that slow southern style
A new religion that'll bring ya to your knees
Black velvet if you please
Every word of every song that he sang was for you
In a flash, he was gone, it happened so soon
What could you do?
Black velvet and that little boy's smile
Black velvet with that slow southern style
A new religion that'll bring ya to your knees
Black velvet if you please
Black velvet and that little boy's smile
Black velvet with that slow southern style
A new religion that'll bring ya to your knees
Black velvet if you please
If you please
If you please
If you please
