Susan Boyle - Britains got talent 2009

Post by lee » April 17, 2009, 8:27 pm

Wow, what an amazing voice. Just goes to show that you should never judge a book by its cover. This really gave me goosebumps.

Already posted under Favorite Music thread but that's ok. She deserves her own thread. Outstanding voice and personality. Gotta admit the eyeballs were sweatin' a bit after watching her performance. =D>

Yep, bit of a tear jerker. One of life's happy stories. I read that America have particularly been interested in her. Hope she has a successful and rewarding career.
Still prefer Leona Lewis though. :D

Aye, sensational. That wiped a few smirks off a few faces, once she started singing! ;)

Good luck to her. :D

Certainly did. It was also a lesson about prejudices and preconceptions. :-"

Nice to see someone with real talent making it instead of those talentless nomarks looking pretty and winning talent shows voted on by teenagers via text message that wouldn't know talent if it slapped them in their acne ridden faces. They make an album and have a Christmas No. 1 then they disappear and get dropped by their record company and end up on "I'm a celebrity get me out of here" only they weren't really a :censored: celebrity in the first place.

No video but this is Susan Boyle singing "Cry me a River" from a charity CD made in 1999.

I heard a rather callous remark on CNN when Susan Boyle first hit the headlines: "With a little money she could look attractive." Our society is rather stuck on the outward appearance...

I'm sure they have an audition. Imagine how many want to get on telly. They must have to whittle it down from thousands to the ones that make it before the 3 judges. Ant & Dec looked like they knew she was good and didn't seem surprised but Cowell, Holden and Morgan were genuinely shocked.

Just one of those people that has probably been singing all her life. Few songs in the pub and at weddings but goes un-noticed. I've seen a few! Brilliant singers that get up on stage on Sunday night after a few pints then back to the day job on Monday while the likes of Boyzone actually get into a recording studio... ](*,)

Sure plenty of people thought that around the globe....checkout the audience's (UK) faces before she started singing...it crossed many watchers minds....she will make it, appearance may well change a little all part of the package., can't see anyone being better than her on that show....must be a winner and i reckon someone has signed her up already....£££££££

Simon Cowell has the sole rights to sign up anyone who auditions and goes on in the competition, he has the same with the program the X-Factor in the UK (singers only). If you're interested you can watch the whole series through uknova, com, the program airs Saturday evening in the UK. I download it every Sunday for the wife, reality TV is not my thing but I must admit I am kinda listening in the background.

Good for Susan Boyle, gone from ordinary single, middle aged woman singing in her local church to Larry individual Live on CNN in a week........................

I must say that watching the video clip of Susan Boyle, reminded me of something very important.

It was an excellent example how people (we all) tend to pre-judge others and form/hold preconceptions and prejudices. I was watching the smirks and sniggers on the audience and judges faces before she started to sing, and then how they all opened their eyes wide and quickly swallowed their preconceptions once they heard her!!

Within 10 seconds or so, people were getting to their feet applauding her, yet moments before they had been quietly condemning her!

To be fair the judges were very open and honest about that and their own feelings afterwards. ;)

simon's expression in less than a minute of her start..................simply priceless 8)

and i just unplugged my mp3 player/clapton, while waiting for it to upload. that's one hell of a voice, quite a few octave, very nice. if nothing comes of it the rest of her life, at 47, she proved to everyone what she already knew..................damn, i'm good...............bless her. hope she gets a contract, some writers, and a few mill................well deserved. with a little luck, doubt if needed, but sure she has a song or 2 of her own scribbled somewhere. anyone with that kind of passion and tenacity, deserves anything coming her way. =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D>

And I saw this LIVE on UK TV as well! I don't normally watch this dross but when home with the parents in a land with only 3 watchable terrestrial TV channels...

The show was coming from Glasgow and up to this point was an embarrassing, farcical shambles courtesy of our genuine Scots non-talent and the over-ambitious who had been duped into competing by Lord knows who; probably family, co-workers and friends; all equally misguided.

It was quite impressive to see this woman's somewhat aggressive/defensive demeanour and dowdy appearance during her introduction cause almost everyone to write her off before she even began. Everyone was waiting for the cringe-making moment that never came. It was awesome to see their preconceptions, including my own, come crashing down. I wasn't at all teary-eyed but there was a lump in my throat.

However, she will remain a virgin as far as I am concerned, despite her angelic voice and the fact that she may just scoop the top prize.

Now, if she should happen to win the lottery...
