OK, I know it isn't Veterans Administration anymore before somebody decides to correct. I have heard that there are facilities here in Udon where one can get VA exams necessary for claims, but like all rumors, I can't find the source. Aside from me visiting every hospital with the actual paper work in hand, does anybody know where I can get exams done. I need hearing (do I ever!) and neck (spinal). The Embassy will find for me in Bangkok, but I would rather avoid the trip, although paid for by the VA.
Thanks

I haven't heard of any VA facilities here or anything close to what you're referring to. The only thing I know of regarding the VA is a member or members with VFW that may help with VA claims.
Also, I recently had a disability claim approved and for the required medical exam the VA contacted me via the Embassy. Initially they wanted me to go see a doctor in BKK, but I told I had a private doctor at AEK. They were okay with that. I submitted my physical exam results through the point of contact in BKK.
The point of contact at the embassy is Pattita Palangkoon: Pattita@state.gov
Maybe they may help answer your question.

Sgt,
You can as a vet on disability and under certain circumstances get medical treatment at some Thai hospitals in Thailand. However, the treatment would be limited to problems directly related to your disability. The hospital also has to agree to work with the VA for billing. I would suggest you contact the Service officer with your local (Udon has one) VFW post. He should be able to fill you in on all the details.
I do know that Chiang Mai Ram Hospital in Chiang Mai does this so I am sure it would be possible to get one of the better hospitals in Udon to do the same. If the local VFW post does not have a service officer, send me a privet message and I will hook you up with the one in Chiang Mai.

Thanks for the prompt reply. I did get information from the VA about using the private doctor and I will go around to have a talk with him about the tests. I just don't know that the hospital will have the diagnostic equipment required. I have been in contact with Pattita at the Embassy also.
