Has anyone seen my plane?

I do not know what the subject refers to but I am wondering if it may have been talked about on another forum Thaivisa because all of a sudden as of late this morning it seems to be blocked. Anyone else know what happened to Thaivisa? Please, if it was because they broke a law about speaking about something do not state what it was, just confirm they have been shut down.

ThaiVisa is up and running, and the thread about the plane seizure is still there - albeit it locked to any comment.

the subject you could be writing about might have been reported in the bkk post a few days ago and last night the wife dreamed up a similar story as a result of something she saw on thai tv a few hours earlier.

From what I have read the said aircraft is private property and in no way should have been seized. That's akin to any of us visiting a foreign country and having our assets taken because of some on going legal action between governments or contractors.

I have been told that if you want to know who owns an aircraft you can find a website that you can input the tail number on and it will tell you who it is registered to. A tail number recently ran of a random aircraft showed that it was registered to the Air Force of a Southeast Asian nation.
I also read that some 1999 model aircraft that was purchased for near 50,000,000 would only be worth about 5 to 10 mil as a used aircraft in today's market. With this in mind I sure hope nobody would be dumb enough to try to visit an aircraft in another aircraft that was also owned by a government. It would really make someone very mad if it were to meet a fate the same as the first aircraft.

It seems there was sufficient evidence for the German court to believe the plane belongs to the Thai government.

When you think about it, would you (no matter how high your position) buy an aircraft with your own money, if you could get a compliant government to buy it for you, and no doubt maintain it on the public purse.

It is very likely the people in Germany seeking legal relief were well aware of the frequent trips this aircraft made to Germany (and particularly Munich), and the publicity (= pressure) its seizure would create.

And if the US defaults, can the Chinese seize a US aircraft carrier or two? :pirate:

why not..its just like the Repo coming, and taking your tv because you didnt pay up, but I dare say there wont be any US carriers lying around unmanned. Would be a different thing all together if the Chinese boarded a manned aircraft carrier to seek recompense..maybe the US could give the Chineses some old Space Shuttles to square the deal

lol! Actually, it's rather academic. Whip out a dollar bill and read what it says. It is backed by nothing other than the full faith and credit of the USA (since 1973 when we left the gold standard). In other words it is nothing more than a promise worth the paper it is printed on. Assets won't be going anywhere to pay past debts - zero legal basis. Future is another matter.

I wonder how many executions have already taken place because of this.

Just wondering.

This could get interesting. :D
Thai prince's second jet faces impounding

FRANKFURT (Reuters) - A German insolvency administrator was on Sunday quoted as saying he was considering impounding a second jet used by the Thai Crown Prince, reported German tabloid Bild am Sonntag.

"We are considering further steps, including seizing the prince's second plane," the paper quoted insolvency administrator Werner Schneider as saying.

German insolvency officials seized a Boeing 737 used by Crown Prince Vajiralongkorn almost two weeks ago to force the Thai government to repay a debt linked to a Bangkok road construction project.

A court last week ruled the jet could be released upon payment of a 20 million euro (17.6 million pound) deposit, an offer rejected by the Thai government, which maintains the jet is the personal property of the Prince and not the government.

Bild am Sonntag said the prince had the second plane flown over to Munich to replace the first one.

Here is the letter, in English, from the German Embassy. It makes good reading.

Ah......the rule of law!

I am sure such a concept comes as a complete surprise to the Thai system, including government and judiciary.

But what a brilliant strategy by the bankruptcy receivers - to seize that particular plane. The very fact of its presence in Munich puts the Thai government in a most invidious position. :D
