Refrigerator is dead

Post by marcusb » July 26, 2018, 6:12 pm

Sharp model SJ-G15S-BL
No warning signs or sounds, light went out and no sound from compressor or anything. Seems totally dead. We did have a couple small power surges the other day.
Checked the plug, the socket, the breaker. Unplugged it plugged it back in... nothing
I've been googling for over an hour and no real info.
Thanks

Sounds like major power problem best getting an engineer to look at it

^ no sir, nor the defrost button.

Seeing as the lights are out as well I think it may be at the beginning of the electrical path...... but I'm an English teacher,
not a technician. :)

I found a relay at the start of the path. I'll take it out and get it tested tomorrow. If thats not it I'll get the guy to come fix it.
Cheers

I'm not being smart marcusb and I know you said you checked the outlet, how, visually or with a multimeter, if not did you plug something else in to the outlet that you know works and that there is actually power available.

^ yeah, there's a group of four on the kitchen wall, they all work. Now the fridge is in the living room and still nothing. breakers, everything ok.
I called my technician friend in Canada, he figures its a fuse somewhere seeing as I lost the lights and the compressor, fans. So it should be cheap, but I will need extra ice for the beers tonight. :)

There could be an online fuse possibly keeping the circuit board protected but its likely only a 2.5 milli amp so not realy the cause.

Used to be that they would glue a wiring diagram on the back of the refrigerator.

If this is the case, it would be helpful to post a photo of this as it would be a big help.

Did a quick Google but as always, nothing comes up on schematics or wiring diagrams.
