Yes it really happened
Yes it really happened
The FBI once investigated a song for two years. YES, 2 YEARS
As far as national security goes, songs are typically fairly harmless. But back in the 1960s, parents across the country became upset by a rumor that claimed the song “Louie Louie” by The Kingsmen contained inappropriate subliminal messages. The FBI stepped in and spent more than two years putting the tune through various audio tests. And despite producing a 120-page report, the feds merely concluded that the song is “unintelligible at any speed.”

Canadians say “sorry” so much that a law was passed so that an apology can’t be used as an admission of guilt.
Canadians are well-known for being incredibly polite, perhaps even to a fault. That’s why in 2009, the province of Ontario passed the “Apology Act,” which states that saying “sorry”—which can be an expression of sympathy or regret—can’t legally be considered an admission of guilt or fault.

No, it's not about Canadians apologizing a lot. Similar laws exist in most, if not all, U.S. states. It's a recognition that legal responsibility is an entirely different matter.Doodoo wrote: ↑August 26, 2019, 12:06 pmCanadians say “sorry” so much that a law was passed so that an apology can’t be used as an admission of guilt. Say you have your brakes fixed, and the shop does a shoddy job. As a result of the poor workmanship, you are unable to stop, and you kill a pedestrian. You might want to apologize to the victim's family without admitting legal responsibility. That's the purpose of these laws.

Scientists have found that four seconds is the perfect length of time to dunk an Oreo in milk.
If you like to enjoy the classic combination of milk and cookies, but hate when your cookie gets too soggy, you’re not alone. That’s why researchers at Utah State University conducted tests to determine the ideal length of time you should let your cookie soak in milk. The result? Four seconds. That timeframe is backed up by a professor of physics at the University of Bristol who came up with a complicated equation years earlier that determined the ideal length of dunking a British biscuit was three-and-a-half to five seconds.
Again valuable information available for readers

What a load of bollox ...... everyone knows that anything more than a half second "dunk" will result in most of the buscuit ending up at the bottom of your cup of teaDoodoo wrote: ↑August 26, 2019, 4:57 pmScientists have found that four seconds is the perfect length of time to dunk an Oreo in milk.

They're talking milk, not tea, the hot tea would definitely send the biscuit to the bottom faster.stattointhailand wrote: ↑August 28, 2019, 8:50 pmWhat a load of bollox ...... everyone knows that anything more than a half second "dunk" will result in most of the buscuit ending up at the bottom of your cup of teaDoodoo wrote: ↑August 26, 2019, 4:57 pmScientists have found that four seconds is the perfect length of time to dunk an Oreo in milk.

The only buscuits brits "dunk" in milk are Farleys Rusks ..... and we've outgrown that by the time we get to about 3 years of age .......... buiscuits are for "dunking" in tea or coffeeStantheman wrote: ↑August 28, 2019, 10:08 pmThey're talking milk, not tea, the hot tea would definitely send the biscuit to the bottom faster.stattointhailand wrote: ↑August 28, 2019, 8:50 pmWhat a load of bollox ...... everyone knows that anything more than a half second "dunk" will result in most of the buscuit ending up at the bottom of your cup of teaDoodoo wrote: ↑August 26, 2019, 4:57 pmScientists have found that four seconds is the perfect length of time to dunk an Oreo in milk.

Finally Finally Finally a UM thread with some serious local Thailand issues in our day to day lives. Biscuit dunking is a favourite of mine.
Not sure the Poms here know how to dunk a TimTam biscuit. Can only be done with cold milk though. Is an art form.

Not sure Tam (or Tim) would like being dunked in anything, let alone cold milk
When did this disgusting cold milk dunking idea start, I've never come accross it before, is it an Aussie thing? I can imagine them dunking bikis in 4x or Forsters but milk

Not sure what size (or shape) of a cup one would need to float a TimTam but there you go, another Aussie hobby revealed. Thanks Barney.
My lad floats his McVities plain chocolate digestive on top of his evening cup of hot Yorkshire tea (with milk and sugar), waiting till it dissolves before spooning/slurping the resultant sludge. He claims that it's some sort of dessert in Accrington but since he's never been there, I blame YouTube.
