The Best of Udon

Post by milkman » May 9, 2022, 6:22 pm

I thought it might be some positive fun for people to post what they’ve found are the best things in Udon. I have two:

The first I just found just last week. It’s the best tasting Indian food I’ve ever had. At a restaurant named Bombay not to the Le Celini community. It was nothing short of fabulous. The place I’d been getting my Indian food from had food that was too salty for my taste, so I seldom got food from there. Bombay was nothing short of fabulous. They just opened, and I hear they’ll have deliveries starting next month.

The second place is STC Homestay in the country near the airport. The nicest people you’ll ever meet run it.. The best French food you’ve ever had for dinner. A. Wonderful getaway when you just want to take a break from your routine and go somewhere for a night. Nice bedrooms for $19 and a lovely cottage all your own with a comfortable patio to sit and enjoy the passing parade for twice as much.

And you, what is your best of Udon?

Shado, I'd love to learn whatever you'd care to share about Lek's Fishing Park. I've never heard of it and don't know a thing about it.

I got some pictures of STC Homestay for those interested. I LOVE the place and find it such a wonderful break from normal life: https://www.bing.com/images/search?view ... t=0&sim=11

Lek's fishing park is the place to go for the fish of your dreams. A wide variety of highly sought after "prize" catches and often the "fish of a lifetime". The park is operated by extremely knowledgeable family members who make every effort to insure success for their clients. It's not for everyone. Developed primarily for serious anglers who are looking to land huge specimens of their target species and consequently priced accordingly. I've fished in similar parks all over the Kingdom and Lek's is my top choice.

Ozone restaurant, opened this year. Set in about 40 rai (a guess), has fabulous landscaping, water features and tens of thousands of flowering plants. Was spectacular in the dry season, getting a little bit faded now with all the rain, but still impressive. Food is ok, you go for the scenery!

It is close to Nong Nalam. Take the Samprao road from the ringroad at global house, pass over the Klong and immediately first right, through the village of Nong Nalam, can go either right or left at the T junction by the workshop (easier to go left, around the pond, then first right by the large apartment block, about 2-3 kilometres, then right again, about one more kilometre. There are signs for it on the roads nearby - but do not try to do it first time at night! The turn into Ozone easy to miss as in Thai from that direction - so go slow.

And, watch the 5 minute video on how to get there!

I shall try this place out for sure, thanks anefarious1!

I heard a rumor yesterday that Andy is making lamb doner kebabs at Chris's this Friday. Yum the idea of that along with that dark Irish liquid.
