Flying a drone in Udon Thani

Ok, I'm obviously missing something here.
Apart from delivering small items (Pizzas etc) what OTHER use is there to having a drone (apart from spying on someone or something)?

Obviously never had a model aircraft as a kid and have the hobby follow you in to adulthood.

Even small drones can fall out of the sky or they can hit things or people. It's pretty much like anything else in Thailand and it's up to to the individual if they want to 'self insure' their small drone activities. It would be better if the authorities had a compulsory minimum for the non-commercial, recreational drone flyer. Something similar to the compulsory vehicle insurance but maybe only around 500 baht.

Agree.....sadly the ones who design the rules have very little first hand experience in flying.
Might be good to point out all of this is also related to r/c aircraft.
Nor are insurance companies interested in " helping out the small user", more to do with profits.

Think you may find the "p*ssed off fellow holidaymaker" would be the one looking out through iron bars in this instance.

It usually takes the efforts of industry bodies to get insurers and the like onside and address the needs of commercial drone service providers. The recreational pilot then gets the benefits. Thailand's government hasn't flagged the drone business as anything significant and only the national security aspects have been determined as needing oversight. That's not unexpected considering their roots.

AMAS in Aus seem to do ok with 20 million cover and costing AU$45.00 a year for adults and AU$10.00 for kids under 18.

Still highly illegal.
Think you'll find it's CASA or the equivalent there who is responsible for chasing up any illegal activity, not the police.
