SCB to stop Easynet banking via the website

Post by deankham » July 3, 2023, 8:43 pm

Just a heads up that SCB will stop their Easynet Internet banking access from 14th July 2023.

After this date you will only be able to use their App for on-line banking.

While IMO the app is much better than the website anyway, it can cause a problem for people like me who are spending most of the year outside of thailand and have a habit of changing my phone.
Currently I can only access the App on my very old phone that is on it's last legs and no longer have the thai SIm enabled which is registered to my account.

So on my upcoming trip to Thailand I need to get myself a new thai SIM, update my details with the bank and activate the app on my latest phone. 8-[

Thanks for the heads up!

One would think that message would pop up every time I use the web based SCBeasy but it does not. Business as usual. I use it often along with a few other banks and have not been informed by SCB yet. I reckon the push to mobile only apps are ways to know even more about us but that is likely just my paranoia (or is it?).

It's likely a cost of support/maintenance IT thing since most of the fellas I know now don't use PC's at all any longer (most also never did). Most just use their bleeding phones which is more of a sign of the times, convenience, budget and current trends I suppose. Still does not make me want to use a phone over a dual screen PC for me banking (and most other things, really).

Annoyed, but thankful for the time to attempt a SCB Easy app on Windows for Android Subsystem now before it goes dark. Cheers, deankham! Just wish the message came from SCB.

Agreed!!

I certainly hope K/Bank does not follow suit. I do find their Phone app very good both in Thailand and here (in Aust.). BUT there are the little things like downloading account statements etc.

For info below is the warning I get when I access the easynet page, regarding the service ending from 14th July 2023.

If I were a small business owner here in Thailand and didn't have access to internet banking I would not be happy.

How would you like to be Somchai tapping out his monthly payroll payments, pay his invoices etc. on a phone rather than a PC with keyboard. As one can see in the 3rd paragraph he has to go into branch now to get a statement to aid his book keeping.

A BIG backward step IMHO!!!

Forgot about the end date until today. Never saw this on my login page until today too (I know, I was warned by others).

We will simply switch most company transactions to one of the other accounts at Bangkok Bank or wherever.

My only real complaint for my personal account is that the backend does not remember account numbers of transactions from the web based version making me manually add them to the phone. No history either. Kind of silly but I guess I'm due for a cleanout there anyway.

Since I screwed up and forgot to do it before the 14th it will involve me asking vendors or friends for their details again. My bad.
