Re: Udon Thani Airport now blockaded
Great, just great!
With the Suvarnabhumi mess two weeks back, I drove to Utapao to collect elder sister of my partner with her twin daughters, 4 years old. Chaos there; sister certainly couldn’t have coped ‘alone’ with the children in tow. Staff doing best they could, but well stressed. No technology in use, just a whiteboard with incoming/outgoing flights. ONE small conveyer belt for claiming baggage, so with the arrival of several flights, people five or six deep. Again, no idea what baggage had been unloaded. The single building housing departures/arrivals probably less than 100 meters long, so one can imagine the crowding.
Now her husband due to arrive Bangkok/Udon THIS Monday. Isn’t that when the new PM is to be decided, which one side or the other will not be happy with. Aaaaggghhh!
Agree that this hassle is surely going to put many off bothering to visit Thailand.
Sister is returning to Europe in February. She’ll need help again (husband having to return to work earlier). I wonder if I face a fight with Thai Airways/Air Asia to give me ‘free’ flights for the previously pre-paid, cancelled ones(I was to meet sister/kids in Bangkok). The latter was a particularly cheap deal, so will they try and make me pay any difference now?
