Ladyboy murdered by 4 teenagers

Post by parrot » April 17, 2011, 10:00 pm

Not to put a dimmer on things as the holiday wraps up, but this article in today's Thai Rath caught my attention. First a bit of background: A year and a half ago, our gardener was killed at a Loy Kratung party that was held at the district lake near Kilo 15 (Udon-Loei Hwy). Around midnight, several teenagers, who had been drinking, exchanged words with our gardener (reason not known). The teenagers proceeded to pummel the 42-year-old man with a 2x4. Our gardener died a few days later. The teenagers were arrested several weeks later. Only the oldest, age 19, is likely to spend any time in jail. The 16 and 17 year old are free.
In today's article:
On April 16, four teenagers (ages 16, 16, 18, 19) were drinking beer alongside the Pibunrak-Sabaang Road (slightly north of Nonghan). A 40 year old ladyboy asked them for a ride to his home in Nonghan. The teenagers declined, words were exchanged, and one of the teenagers hit the ladyboy over the head with a beer bottle. The ladyboy tried to flee, but the teenagers chased him down, beat him with a hammer and bamboo sticks, then poured gas on him and tried to cover up the crime. When the four were subsequently arrested on 17 April, they confessed to the crime. They were given urine tests.....all four came up purple (the article doesn't explain the significance of this, but I'd guess it's an indicator of drug use).

Again, I'm not trying to paint a grim picture, but news is news, and sometimes it's not all good.

so probably wacked out on a combination of meth tablets (yaa-baa) and alcohol. No defense for the action but Yaa-Baa seems to drive people absolutely nutso as evidenced by the Songkran murder of a cop in conjunction with a car-jacking in BKK that ended up with the Yaa-Baa criminal riddled with police bullets and the kidnap victim wounded in the gunfight. The constant deluge of millions of Yaa-Baa tablets from NE Burma (Wa area) should be taken as a real threat to the Thai nation unlike the Preah Vear temple foofraw..

word to the wise, you need to be careful even here. the other night i was over at UD town, you may
recall they had a big concert / festival thing for 5-6 days. anyway, rot-fai-road is the lane running
back by the train station. they've already had (1) farang and his wife mugged back there a time ago.
the usual suspects hanging around back there looking like they had nothing better to do but cause
trouble (and i know the usual suspects because i had 2-3 altercations with young thugs like this in
patters) high on yaba and whiskey, constant sh_t running out of their mouths, looking to start fights
(with their 5 friends behind them) with any and everyone. oh and let's not forget the farang that was
slashed by a sword a little ways down posri road from here. i'm not trying to scaremonger, i'm just
saying there are some maladjusted kids/adults out there and as farangs are so often blamed for
society's ills here, we (farangs in general) are also often targets of random violence. be careful. :(
