Lao Women Among Prostitutes Arrested in Thailand

Post by laphanphon » November 8, 2006, 2:01 am

not that i would want to see them deterred, a gal's got to make a living, but 300 baht fine isn't much of a deterrent. link and whole aritcle below:

http://origin.www.voanews.com/lao/2006-11-07-voa2.cfm
Thai police in the town of Udon Thani, in northeastern Thailand, raided three brothels in the heart of the town and arrested 11 prostitutes, including seven from Laos.

The Lao women, aged 20 to 25 years old, entered Thailand legally and are said to be in the brothels voluntarily, so Thai authorities could not send them back. The women were released after paying
300 Baht-fine each.

:D we never deny it's existence, just play ignorant when asked and discourage that lot of tourist from visiting. just in case i'm single and 6 beers to the wind, wouldn't want all that farang competition or farang pricing due to supply and demand. :D

But isn't prostitution illegal in Thailand?
So the police should have no problem to close the brothels and expel the women from Thailand???

I reckon you guys in Udon should have a whip round and help them out.

Start a charity called, "Save our Prostitutes".

Perhaps the bar owners could have collection tins on the bar. All donations used to help out the girls when the police raid.

Really,!!! I'll take your word for it.

Maybe I've found my vocation when I live there. I'd be the oldest hooker in town

No, on second thoughts, I think I'd soon be destitute.
