Spoke to them this week and they confirmed that they are keeping the landmark shop too. However the veg and meat sections will move to the new site.

this is good news although i am a very bad customer of villa market (maybe go look 3 times a year) as most of their products are imported (american?) and due to import tax way too much overpriced + my lack of knowledge of these american products , but i will take a look more know they are more close to our home and will be having adequate parking space ....

Wonderful another shop that will lessen the parking and cause even more chaos, I should get a job as a planner for Udon Thani ......no wait they do not have one, in fact I think they never have had one. Plus if there was parking it will be rented out for outside stalls anyway. Like the rest of UD Town.

Are you sure its near McDonalds ?
Its just that we ate at Shabu Indy in UD Town last week and walking up towards Tesco's there were signs for Villa Market more or less opposite Tesco's.
But I could be hopelessly wrong and the signs there were just promoting the business.....I have been known to be wrong occasionally !

If they have not started building yet, how are they going to complete by August 2016. Generally speaking, I would ignore any signs regarding the position of any Thai business. This one may well be being built in Nong Khai.

That's what made me think ! More or less opposite Tesco Lotus there is a completed building so an August opening might be possible in that area ?

I think they are going to build a parking building or something like that not a building for villa,anything else would be insane.

What a bunch of numpties, they have announced the move some time ago. Do you all know better than the management of Villa Market? Negative comments like those above are making Udon Map a site to avoid. What happened to the helpful and informative posts previously found here.Surely if you have nothing of interest to say switch off your PC.

They have signs on an existing building across from Tesco. Parking got to plan your trips for slow times or be ready to be frustrated-

Parking at UD Town is something I attempt only in the daytime. Even then, they start roping off parking (and entrance/exits) by mid-afternoon. The greedy owners can rent out a parking spot for 200 baht/night, so why even consider convenience to the paying customers, right? TIT. I would expect to see more parking slots to disappear to Thai vendors selling the usual cheap crap.

As for kopkei's speculation that Villa Market has predominantly American products--I wish it was true, but it's not. Not true at Tops, either.

so, Villa is going to build a brand new building down by McDonald's where they've removed the old railroad siding and flattened the lot out? Geez, while right across the street the large Nevada Complex with garage parking is sitting pretty much empty....

I understand that the NEVADA COMPLEX has been purchased by UD TOWN. However i don t know how it will be incorporated with the exixting UD TOWN. An overpass will be linking both sides of the steet.

I always try to look at the bright side of things: like......UD Town is still open after all these years and after places like Platinum and Outlet and Nevada and a host of others didn't succeed. Like.......there's a Villa store in Udon (still). I rarely frequent it, but it's a nice place to have when you need something special that the others don't carry. Like.......I've never gone to Landmark or Central or UD Town and NOT found a parking spot, as opposed to trying to shop on Phosri Rd to support some of the smaller merchants. Like.....when my wife and I go to UD Town for lunch, I know we can always find shaded parking near Boots....always! And like.......I know the city has a planning section......planning for a new university, planning for a new jail, planning for an over/underpass near the old Tesco, planning on a second ring road, planning to put some overhead wiring underground........among other things. It's not utopia....but it beats looking at the negative side of things.
