A few weeks ago there was a major bust-up of a large scale loanshark business near the clock circle. The street next to the Chinese school was blocked while police and media swarmed the area and arrested several members of a family and their associates. Police confiscated hundreds of landpapers and vehicles that were being held by the family in exchange for high interest loans.
In the past week or so, several people have had their land papers returned.....and yesterday, Prawit Wongsuwan came to Udon and returned land deeds to 1,778 people!

Re: Happy Days!
I do so hope someone offers to lend the family their bail money ......... at about 5% per month
Re: Happy Days!
the loan sharks no doubt were "influential" people. You have to wonder if at some time in the near future those folks who got their land deeds back will get a knock on the door...

Re: Happy Days!
Do these Green Jackets have a logo on the back with CBD, or something similar?
There's a set-up like this in Ban Leaum, opposite a cops house.

If you can't abide by the terms of the deal, don't take the loan. Why should the borrowers be let off the hook if they don't want to live up to their end of the deal? They understood the terms going into it, now we're supposed to feel sorry for them? Not me.

Perhaps, dear Giggles, some people get in to so much difficulty financially, that they don't think straight, & make poor decisions.
Or the 'Salesman' i.e any financial institution, or loan shark, makes the prospect of borrowing & repayment almost easy.
But then, looking at so many of your strident posts, I doubt you have any compassion for anyone who is not as perfect as you.
Re: Happy Days!
I can't remember off the the top of my head but it is a possibility always two on the bike.
Re: Happy Days!
Don't do the crime if you can't do the time.
Don't borrow money, no matter how badly you need it, if the terms are rotten. The borrowers took the loan willingly and should lose the collateral if they default on the loan. Same as a bank would respond.
Some people are just too soft on idiots.
