Bus/Motorcycle, Ban Leuam Intersection, Again

Post by jingjai » February 17, 2015, 10:18 am

According to the date/time stamp on the video, this happened in 2000, must be thousands more dead since then.
Of course, one must take into account, that it was a Thai, who set the the settings on the video camera.

Ultimately, IMO, accountability falls on the irresponsible parents of the 14 year old. Parents who bought or allowed their 14 year old son to ride a motorbike.

Unfortunately in Thailand 14 year olds can legally ride motorbikes, after obtaining a license

my sincere condolences to the family that lost their son.............

yesterday I had the green light in town and 5 to 6 motorbikes pre run their green light, forcing me to back pedal my bike to the stop line of the intersection..........will they learn? no! the hard way may just kill them.

I have learned over the years do not try to holeshot the green light, the red light runners will kill you.

Cannot...legal driving age for motorbikes is 15.

I came across this on one of the Thai driver's test websites:
14. พ.ร.บ.จราจรทางบกฯ ผู้ขอรับใบอนุญาตขับรถจักรยานยนต์ ไม่เกิน 110 ซีซี จะต้องมีอายุไม่ต่ำกว่าเท่าไร
ตอบ 15 ปี บริบูรณ์ which roughly translates to: an applicant for a motorcycle driver's license up to 110CC must be no less than 15 years old.

My western mind would translate to mean that a 15 year old couldn't drive a 125cc bike.........but I'd had to do more research into Thai driver's laws.

Back on topic.......the bus involved in the incident is impounded at the city police station.....well, it's parked on the side road next to the police station. You'd hardly know it was involved in an accident.

Correct Parrot : 15 years and up can only drive a bike of max capacity of 110cc. From 18 years a bike of any size engine.

No blood on the bus - I guess it is all on the driver's hands. :(

I always look to see that the traffic has stopped before proceeding through a '' green light" .
Looked the same to me. That being said if the bus was running legal speed of( 90 ?), no way would he would have gotten that thing stopped, from the green phase and the red phase of the light.

Never have figured out what the big hurry is on these lights. I may ride like a nut at times but, even I don't do that.

Sad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I reserve the right to be wrong, mispell words type badly. leave words out of sentences because my mind works faster then my fingers. To be an OLD GIT I've earned it
