My friend who works with Air Asia in Udon tells me the domestic airlines thrive on passengers who don't book early or don't book for extra baggage or arrive late (not within 30-45 min before boarding depending on airline).

Passenger flow at the airport in Udon is reportedly up 20% from the same period last year. I wouldn't be surprised if a good number of those numbers are flying here to go to Kham Chanote. The place is being overrun with tourists.....seeking a lucky lottery number!

Flight number..seat number. Date of travel. Time departed time arrived ( hopefully ) km to Kharn Chanote time ut took. Year of.manufacter of car rhat was used. Room number of hotel. Address of hotel....cost of evening meal.

Another Udon lottery winner.......to the tune of 18 million Baht. Yes, they've recently visited Kham Chanote. And I'm sure many thousands will follow in their footsteps (to the island).

The latest passenger numbers for Udon Jan - Jun 2017 are 1,300,000+. That was the total for the year 2013!

Yesterday I Flew down from UTH to DMK On Nok Air....The 1150 hrs flight was 85% Full,
Came Back on the 1700 hrs DMK to UTH & That was about 80% Full.....
Flight Down was 10 Mins Ahead of Schedule arriving into DMK.....The Return was Delayed by 20 Mins on Departure due to Busy Traffic at DMK,But arrived into UTH Only 5 Minutes behind it's Scheduled arrival Time....
Left My Car at UTH 8 1/2 Hours & Cost me 200 Baht......
Came Back on the 1700 hrs DMK to UTH & That was about 80% Full.....

We've not flown from Udon since Air Asia and Lion Air were moved to the far end of the Terminal in March,but are flying out later this month.
Is the baggage screening area still at the same place for all flights,and you would have to wander down to the far end of the Terminal,or is there now a separate baggage screening area for Air Asia and Lion Air ?

It's the latter, Zidane - there's a separate screening machine near to the Air Asia and Lion Air check-ins. Covid's pretty much declared 'over' for Thailand and most of SEA. I took some friends visiting from Italy to the airport a few days ago and, for the first time, noticed cars parking in the new(er) uncovered parking just down from terminal 2 (I parked there for about 40 minutes.....paid 15 Baht when I exited).
That got me to thinking.....where's Udon in relative pax traffic compared to pre-covid:
2019 passenger traffic in/out for the year: average per day 6906 passengers
Average daily flights in/out for the year: 50
As compared to the daily report for 21 Sept (traffic during the last long holiday was about 10% higher, but otherwise daily traffic pretty much as reported for 21 Sept): 4440 (inbound/outbound) passengers on 32 flights. I haven't seen a daily report of more than 38 flights for the past year....or more.
So, as I figure it, Udon load factor is still down about 33% +- both for passengers and flights from pre-covid days.
Just numbers.....like those of the vehicle loads on the roads in/out of Udon. But probably as good a gauge of how things are doing.....economy wise......pre/post Covid.

Yes, I also noticed that in the world Covid maps in the NYTimes, there is no Covid in SEAsia. Been wondering if that's more a statement of government control over Covid infection, or government control over Covid reporting.

In the UK new infections are increasing. Currently 1 in 37 people have it, up from 1 in 42 a week or two back.
