With the standard of PEA's cables they may as well just dig all the roads up now and leave them dug up ready for the cable repairs
Re: Udon to underground cables in central city area
I wonder who's getting the 500 million baht contract to remove the existing overhead power cables from the poles?
From the article "Mr. Ittipon Trivisavasin Udon Thani Municipality said that the use of electric wires and underground lines. It is the beginning of urban development."
How about GUARANTEEING a steady, 240 V supply to the 90% of Udon subscribers who don't get it?
Now THAT would be the (long, long overdue) "beginning of 'urban development", IMHO.

They'll still have to leave their poles to support the hundreds of telephone cables.

Hundreds of redundant telephone, internet and cable television cables too.
google translate offers...
"In the past, only the PEA poles. Many state and private enterprises. Make sure the cable is properly organized. Must be used on the pole. Only one PEA The case of cable lease. When carrying cables and cables underground. The electric poles will be demolished. The operator terminates the contract. Will have to hang up the underground pipe. Udon Thani will decide how to keep the costs. "
There you go...sorted!

Re: Udon to underground cables in central city area
the MEA in Bangkok undergrounded a lot of overhead electrical lines last year and early this year. Pictures from the media showed piles of internet and communications cables cut and in piles along Sukhumivt Road.. I didn't see any howling in the news from subscribers so it must have been half-way or half-assed thought out...

I remember this being a subject a couple of years ago that Parrot posted.
I wonder if that work was ever achieved?
The first link posted by FrazeeDK on this thread, when read through the bad translation I get does mention the clock circle etc which was in the original thread. Don't remember seeing any major digging.
