Udon Industrial Estate in Non Soong
Udon Industrial Estate in Non Soong
Here's a government video on the Udon Thani Industrial Estate. Its been around since about 1999 with zero factories built there. Its been reinvigorated in the last year or so. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1wfS9vK ... G8BUx/view
it is located here, east of the railway tracks on the north side of Non Soong and adjacent to the old Ramasun military base. https://www.google.com/maps/place/Udon+ ... 02.8158924
one interesting note is that the projected Udon Potash Mine owned by the Asia Pacific Potash Company location is immediately south of the industrial estate..

The government is sinking a chunk of cash into the industrial site.....another 500 rai is set to be developed.
Will the factories/industry come to Udon.......or will the potash begin to flow? So far, mum's the word.

Re: Udon Industrial Estate in Non Soong
perhaps both since Asia Pacific Potash's holdings (from a map provided by Parrot long ago) seem to stop just south of the newly expanding industrial estate. Perhaps this is all in preparation for the SRT dual tracking on their meter gauge and the planned standard gauge railway.. An industrial estate that is moving to completion would join neatly with the logistics capability offered by both the rail lines.. But, only time will tell. If the transportation nexus exists you might see various Eastern Seaboard auto parts companies willing to move to take the government offered tax advantages and cheaper labor in Udon.. As noted in the video, there are plenty of Issan folks who would be happy to "move home to Udon."

The article says it is in tambon Non Sung and the entrance from Mitrapharp and existing rail would be there but the bulk of the estate would maybe lie in tambon Nong Khon Kwang and tambon Nong Na Kham which are both east of the existing railway line? Nong Sung is all to the west of the existing railway line.
Re: Udon Industrial Estate in Non Soong
I’m not sure their definition of 50% ready is the same as mine.
I had time to kill last week so drove in for a nosey & there is nothing there, zilch, zip, nada. The two lane highway from Mitrapharp Road just stops & drops onto a red dirt track. Nothing else there

You don't actually think they would plan ahead, will be built then they will realise the railroad isn't theretamada wrote: ↑September 15, 2020, 2:26 pmThe article says it is in tambon Non Sung and the entrance from Mitrapharp and existing rail would be there but the bulk of the estate would maybe lie in tambon Nong Khon Kwang and tambon Nong Na Kham which are both east of the existing railway line? Their idea is very Industrious
Must be a "Buck" in it for someone

That's one small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind.
Re: Udon Industrial Estate in Non Soong
I love the plan, build the estate and then worry about how to get there, train/road etc.
Re: Udon Industrial Estate in Non Soong
^ The road and railway is already there.
Re: Udon Industrial Estate in Non Soong
The basic supply infrastructure is already in place including the existing airport. Right now, any industrial estate is well served for transport access. If the high speed rail link manifests itself some time in the future, then that's a bonus.
Re: Udon Industrial Estate in Non Soong
I agree.
If you compare the Infrastructure in place now in Udon & compare it to the Infrastructure in place for the 3 big Industrial estates at Bowin (Eastern Seaboard) near Pattaya it is far superior.
All their freight has to come by road.
There are freight trains sometimes several hundred meters long leaving Udon loaded with containers daily.
Re: Udon Industrial Estate in Non Soong
to get an idea of how big the estate will be you'd have to have a 4wd to circumnavigate the place. It is huge. Yes, the current concrete dual carriageway road stops after perhaps 1.5km into the estate but elsewhere there is a power substation, several large water catchment/reservoirs and from the large EGAT power distribution station on Rte 22 (Sakon Highway) a 22 megawatt high tension line run from there to the estate. It is far more advanced that it was 2 years ago.. Construction is ongoing.. With power, water and IF the State Railway of Thailand sees the light of day and actually builds a spur into the estate it should be a prime area for factory construction to take advantage of the cheap labor up here...
