Somtiels

The transport administration has just approved an increase of fares on the local somtiel pick up buses.with effect from 1st June 08.The changes are as follows.
1) Adult passengers will be 8bht, up from 7bht
2) Students & children in uniform 7bht, up from 6bht.
3 Farangs, up to 70 kilos 10bht and extra 1bht per kilo over.
This last item is to take into account the extra fuel consumption and occupation of double seat space.
Before the farang double pricing brigade hits their keyboards. Items 1 & 2 are true, whilst number 3 is a joke.

Its still up to you, as they say.

Aw, I had a mind picture of farangs having to step on a scale before they would be allowed to board the somtiel (or songthaew). Know a "burly" German fellow who would have fought tooth and nail over that one.

Still a bargain at 8 baht, eh?

Well I don't use them so mai pen ly.......now Stan using them, make that about 175 baht and 50 satang (don't forget the dog), and thinking about Trubrit...heheheheheh maybe 250+ baht.

It lasted until it ended!Now we are in discussions about starting again.I am procrasinating because my head is saying f@#k it ,enjoy yourself and die young!But the truth is ,my feet are killing me and I am losing sight of my little feller

I only use them in Bangkok!Sometimes when I go to Immigration,I walk up Soi Convent from Silom to Sathorn and take one down to immigration.It was 5 baht.It is unusual to see a falang in Bangkok use one,I get great smiles as I hop on the back platform!

Of course that is if I got to California Fitness on Silom at 6 AM!My 10 year membership is running out,maybe I will be on my diet again the 3rd week of August when I go again and I will spend a few days working out in a great facility and use the songtiel again!

Just had a ride on the old 44 form Wing 23 gate to the complex. Turns out the price has gone up to 9 baht here in Udon

Oh well I wonder what the fair will be from Borabue (new home and job) to Mahasarakham 20km. away
