There are places outside the ring road, you just have to look around. There's one across the flyover from Big C, on the Sakhon Nakhon road... another on the Khon Kaen road about 2 Km south of the ring road... you'll see guys cutting steel outside (with oxy-propane profiler).
Prices will vary, expect to pay up to 5,000 Baht for bottle and 200 for refill.

If you are 50k south of Udon, you are probably near me in Kumphawapi. We buy gas for welding etc from a shop as you drive into the Town (my wife tells me that this includes CO2).
Come in on the main road off Highway 2 past Pandon and it is between the 2 petrol garages on the RH side - the shop is opposite on the LH side. Probably about 800m before you get to Tesco

Re: CO2 gas
I'm sure that if you ask nearly any body shop where they get their CO2 they will tell you where the nearest supplier is.
Re: CO2 gas
Glait , this post is 4 years old , and no the body shops don't know as they for the most use oxygen ,
this post maybe resurrected shortly as i know the man who uses CO2 is about to run out and the supplier we found has closed down , 555 so here we go again ,
