The Netherlands recently held a general election. Mr Gert Wilders leaning right wing party appear to have won in the house of Reps with Wilders becoming the new PM.
Argentina recently held elections and a right wing part won, now Holland. Holland, an economic powerhouse in western Europe, accounts for the 5th or 6th largest economy in the west.
Maybe there is a sway now for right wing parties to continue this trend, I hope so. And with Donald Trump maybe winning in the USA, the world may be changing as we know it towards right wing Govts.
Dutch 2023 elections.
Re: Dutch 2023 elections.
Based on PVV winning 25% of the vote means 75% of the Dutch electorate did not vote for Geert Wilders to be their Prime Minister.
Looking at Dutch electoral history, caretaker PM Rutte's last coalition took almost nine months to form. Based on that alone, PVV will have a struggle forming a coalition without some significant concessions being made. For example, in 1982, the party that won the most seats in the election ended up in opposition after their losing opponents formed a coalition.

Re: Dutch 2023 elections.
Plenty of rickety bridges to cross before Wilders gets to sit in the big chair.

Out of interest, Sport - are you a Trump supporter, and would like to see him win next year?

Argentina is an economic basket case. It will be interesting to see if far-right leadership does as well as Chavez's far-left administration did in Venezuela.

Re: Dutch 2023 elections.
The big chair has a temporary Wilders name on it and he will eventually sit in it, providing he can persuade the other 2 parties to form a coalition. I am JS a Trump supporter and if he does not win, I hope someone of Trumps standing will be the next POTUS.jackspratt wrote: ↑November 26, 2023, 9:09 amPlenty of rickety bridges to cross before Wilders gets to sit in the big chair.
