Apparently, the Grammy Awards show was even more boring and irrelevant to anything meaningful.

We make our world significant by the courage of our questions and by the depths of our answers.
Re: U.S. Politics
Apparently, the myriad of award presentations in the fields of art, sports and entertainment are of importance to a large segment of world's population, especially Americans. Inevitably, gender, politics. race or religion creep into these venues and they become springboards for special intrests and personal agendas. I simply have no time nor inclination for these superfluous, self-congratulatory extravaganzas. I'd rather work a crossword puzzle.

And in the meantime, Exxon posted a profit of $9.3 billion for Quarter 1 this year. I think it's about time these price gauging assholes get their billions of dollars in subsidies they get every year taken away.

The States is a place that breads GREED
Years back the CEO of Exxon retired He had brought Mobil and meshed it with Exxon. To show their gratitude he received a Retirement Package of $400 Million dollars/ At that time I was on an Exxon project and I asked some of the employees what they thought of this. The response was typical "Oh, yes he deserves it" I then asked who paid for it and of course they didnt know that the Public paid for it at the pump

Re: U.S. Politics
The UK's governing party of the rich and favored has dismissed similar calls from the public and opposition parties for a windfall tax on fossil fuel producers.
They have chosen to raise funds by raising taxes to a level not seen since WWII. They are on the cusp of including the war in Ukraine as an excuse for inflicting more hardship on the lower classes while they cherry-pick their Russian sanctions while allowing their cronies to make like gangbusters. Right now, they are milking the Covid and global inflation rates excuses for what they're worth. Sound familiar?

I had in my youth when at home a neighbour who was an Idian Diplomat, he stated to me that in fact although the UK took over a couple of centuries a lot of wealth India was run far better under British Colonial Rule than now . Everyone had to follow the same law. even the trains ran on time ...lol Not saying it was right just a window into the real world .tamada wrote: ↑April 7, 2022, 10:40 amThat's Obamaland's flag, no? I used to work with a Burmese refugee many years ago here in Udon. He was lawyer in Burma and he often told me he was thankful for British common law.

Aha, read Burmese Days by George Orwell, Cali. Read Eric Blair's biography too, us Blitish were about as popular as an Orange march at Drumcree.

Re: U.S. Politics
When the British Empire surreptitiously rebranded itself as the Commonwealth of Nations, that sorted the men from the boys. The colonies of other European empires all crumbled, some quite horrifically. The colonial boat has already sailed for those that chose to get all empirical in the last hundred years or so.

It appears the Trump endorsement hasn't done Vance any harm in his tilt for the Senate.

Re: U.S. Politics
Roll forward to 2025 and Vance might be in these kinds of pics. I'm guessing there's room for an arse kissing senator or two. I don't know if he'll be supporting Trump ordering the US military to shoot US civilians in the legs:
