NOV 5 2024 Election Day
NOV 5 2024 Election Day
Off and running
As of 2 p.m. ET today, voters across the country have returned a total of 78,726,665 advance ballots for the November election, the Associated Press reported. If overall turnout resembles that of the 2020 election — in which over 158 million total votes were cast — that would mean about half of the voters opted to cast their ballots early this year.

Trump wins a cantor .. no doubt much to the despair of many UM members who have vilified him over the weeks months and years .. The American people have chosen and i hope DT does MAGA , it seems many possibly didnt like the man but liked his policies and obviously prefered him to the cackling airhead puppet who was chucked in the deep end purely because she had abetter chance than Biden (remember him).
At least this time he should have the backing of the senate and HovR whom in the past blocked everything he tried to do.
My heart goes out to Jackslatts dog Fido im sure hes in for a few rough days and kickings until Jack calms down.
Looking forward to DT term its gonna be entertaining for sure ..buckle up n enjoy the ride.

The problem, DM, is that he can't deliver what he's promised, like the southern border wall that Mexico was going to pay for.Drunk Monkey wrote: ↑November 6, 2024, 9:20 pmThe American people have chosen and i hope DT does MAGA , it seems many possibly didnt like the man but liked his policies and obviously prefered him to the cackling airhead puppet who was chucked in the deep end purely because she had abetter chance than Biden (remember him).
He's promised to end taxes on tips and social security benefits, for example, in addition to massive corporate tax cuts as well as tax cuts for the wealthy. Where's all the money going to come from? But the American people, being for the most part gullible dopes, will believe anything.
That said, Kamala seemed to have no policies for anything. Perhaps she would have had a better chance if she actually had a substantive policy for any of the issues facing us now, but, if she did, she successfully kept them secret.

Re: NOV 5 2024 Election Day
Kamala was the wrong candidate. If the DNC would have had a primary instead of being ---- scared of voting out the woman of color due to the current ideals of the liberal party this may have turned out differently. I think the average voter wanted a change from the current policies of the Biden/Harris administration, not more of the same. Huge arrogant mistake. The democrats lost the plot and they only have their leadership to blame.
I say give the republicans a chance this time instead of trying to block every single move. Perhaps a majority in both houses will help pave a path to a better use of government.

Leo, my dog, sends his regards, and his thanks for your concerns over his welfare, but he is pining in my absence, given I was travelling to Oz all day yesterday.Drunk Monkey wrote: ↑November 6, 2024, 9:20 pm

Back to the BOB, my comment to my older, and lot less wiser MAGA brother last night when I arrived, was "the Orcs have won, and Sauron has ascended".

I found this on Statista
It may provided some insight as to why Voters may have changed their positions from 2020 to 2024, with people apparently more concerned about the increase in the cost of living and also increase in crime, things that the Voters (particularly those in the rural areas) can relate to.

Re: NOV 5 2024 Election Day
And funnily enough, reducing the cost of living and crime wasn't really on either candidate's main agenda. Sure Trump said he was going to deport the criminal gangs, but that's hardly the universal cause of crime in the US... unless of course a lot of people believe it is.pipoz4444 wrote: ↑November 9, 2024, 1:25 pmI found this on Statista

Re: NOV 5 2024 Election Day
Sensible statement but surely the Republicans have members with an IQ higher than Trumps 69 or wot ever it is?

Re: NOV 5 2024 Election Day
It was to indicate how peoples perception (in this case the Swing Voters) can and will change over time. i.e. over the past 4 years and it will likely change again over the next four years.
Sometimes, it is not about what one has done or what one has promised, it is about what people perceive a government has done, or caused or not done enough of. It doesn't necessarily mean it is true.
Simple things like the price of petrol can add to the sway Voters, as can the price of Food. Anything that impacts daily.
By themselves price increases in their daily lives may not be enough, but add it to the perception related to increase in crime (normally sensationalized by Medial outlet) and other things and people will believe it to be true (1 + 1 will equal 4)
You are not talking about a big percentage of the Voters or a large number of people here, who can or will change their minds about a government every four years, across these seven or so swing States. At its probably less that 1.0 Million Voters across all seven states who if they change their minds they change the election outcome.
That is 1.0 Mill out of 140 Million or under 1%.
People always want change which they hope will improve there daily lives. Its just a fact of life.
