Not being a Trump fan, I'm surprised and pleased to see the team he is assembling. He has a really good chance of at least partially draining the swamp by choosing outside people for important positions. I also believe that government waste will be cut substantially. That's way past due. Who better to accomplish that other than businessmen ? There are better days ahead. I no longer have to be ashamed of the stupid greedy US federal government. I also heard Rand Paul say that he has 2,000 pages of things that can be cut from the bloated government.

This guy was not confirmed so that's the way we are protected. Whether he was innocent or not is not important. The thing is that congress was not satisfied with him so he was eliminated.

He was nominated by Trump and accepted the nomination to much adulation among the MAGA collective, less so on the floor. He quickly resigned from Congress which coincidentally terminated the House Ethics Committee's investigation a couple of days before "potentially damaging" evidence was due to be published.

It never got to Congress as, after a closed door huddle with conservative representatives, he withdrew the nomination after a straw poll showed he had a snowball's chance in hell of getting approval from his own team. Again, coincidentally, this was a few days after some of the House Ethics Committee findings had been hacked and downloaded by unknown actors. His claim that he withdrew in order to avoid "distraction" and a "scuffle" is so much pretentious self-aggrandizing nonsense.

More seriously, the fact that the president-elect considered appointing Gaetz to be the nations sheriff in the first place indicates very, very poor judgement. By being 'unseated' before the off by his peers indicates that thankfully, they're not all marching to the same MAGA drum. I consider that to be evidence that the Constitution will be protected in spite of the nonsense that Trump and his sycophants tend to pull out of their butts from time to time.

Gaetz did the honorable thing by withdrawing when it became obvious that he did not have enough support to be confirmed. He saved a lot of time and embarrassment for himself and the party. It just goes to show that the constitution works as intended. Trump has egg on his face but that won't stop him from avoiding anyone from the swamp.

When they (GOP or Dem) nominated say a sitting Senator and or a House of Rep position for say the AG or Head of CIA etc. does that sitting person have to give up his or her seat in the Senator/House of Representatives

If so who takes over or gets that seat

Yes. The vacancy is filled according to state law. In most states, U.S. Senator replacements are appointed by the governor of the state, and House of Representative vacancies are usually filled by special election.

Marc Andreessen and Rogan have a long form conversation touching many many topics. Marc a software engineer (of Netscape fame) turned venture-capitalist was a staunch democrat until a conversation with a Hispanic waiter in Silicon Valley and attending Hillary's post election loss speech.

His views on banking, politics, AI, social media, drones etc are eye opening to say the least. Was not sure where to post this but since most of the topics connect to US politics, I suppose this is the best thread.

Well there's a surprise, no? Who would have thought that old Sleepy Joe Biden could single-handedly arsef*ck the American justice system? It has probably also cast the Democrats further into their Harris-induced political wilderness.

By pardoning his oxygen wasting son, that single deceitful act has done far more damage to the nation's constitutionally protected rights than say... let's see now... Trump pardoning ALL those jailed for trying to toast their marshmallows at the Capitol almost four years ago?

Oh,wait...

"firm was paid $11 million from 2013 to 2018, including $3.8 million in payments from CEFC China Energy, a defunct oil and gas company with links to the Chinese" and more, millions more

For an "oxygen wasting son" I consider him a bright and worthful son. He did a great job. Only deficit he had has, he got caught.

Honest old Uncle Joe is in the process of pardoning the entire Biden crime family. The truth is being wiped out and this is proof about just how corrupt Uncle Joe really is.

STRANGE (not ) Joe waited until after the election Harris hammering to pardon his wayward son Hunter of ALL his alleged and convicted crimes, obviously it also saves Joe getting involved even taking the stand in any later trials etc ..
tinternet is awash with all the times Joe and his staff confirmed he would not be pardoning his son and would respect the decision of the jury though i see he and his black fuzzy haired mouth piece bint are blaming his political opponents to legitimize the pardon ..so this is DTs fault as well

What was that about the rule of law  :^o ???
