Re: Will Trump make the Grade.
One thing is for certain. This president loves himself above all and does not care about the people. Why else would you ban muslims from countries that have not attacked the US, but allow muslims from the countries that have committed terrorist attacks on US soil.

Judge halts deportations as refugee ban causes worldwide furor
Confusion and concern among immigrant advocates mounted throughout the day as travelers from the Middle East were detained at U.S. airports or sent home. A lawsuit filed on behalf of two Iraqi men challenged Trump’s executive action, which was signed Friday and initially cast as applying to refugees and migrants.
But as the day progressed, administration officials confirmed that the sweeping order also targeted U.S. legal residents from the named countries — green-card holders — who were abroad when it was signed. Also subject to being barred entry into the United States are dual nationals, or people born in one of the seven countries who hold passports even from U.S. allies, such as the United Kingdom.

U.S. Vetting
"We’ve taken in tens of thousands of people; we know nothing about them," Trump said Thursday in an interview on Fox News. "They can say they vet them, they didn’t vet them. They have no papers. How can you vet somebody when you don’t know anything about them and you have no papers? How do you vet them? You can’t."
Under the Obama administration, the U.S. focused its refugee admissions on individuals with existing links to America, as well as women and children facing persecution or in desperate need of medical care. The screening process averages 12 to 18 months and includes biometric data and reviews by multiple law enforcement and intelligence agencies.
“If you actually get resettled in the United States, it’s literally like winning the lottery,” Limon said.
Trump’s call to limit refugee admissions has been denounced by human-rights groups, who say vulnerable people seeking to flee religious or political persecution would be denied safe haven. Although Trump has pulled back from statements early in his presidential campaign that he would ban immigration by Muslims, his critics say his policies embrace anti-Muslim sentiment and would erode America’s standing around the world.
“We bomb your country, creating a humanitarian nightmare, then lock you inside," Senator Chris Murphy, a Connecticut Democrat, said in a statement on Wednesday. “That’s a horror movie, not a foreign policy.”

‘I am heartbroken’: Malala criticizes Trump for ‘closing the door on children’ fleeing violence
Malala Yousafzai, the Pakistani schoolgirl who survived being shot in the head by the Taliban and went on to become an internationally-known advocate for girls' education and children's rights, said she is “heartbroken” over President Trump's executive order temporarily banning refugees from entering the United States.
I am heartbroken that today President Trump is closing the door on children, mothers and fathers fleeing violence and war. I am heartbroken that America is turning its back on a proud history of welcoming refugees and immigrants — the people who helped build your country, ready to work hard in exchange for a fair chance at a new life.
I am heartbroken that Syrian refugee children, who have suffered through six years of war by no fault of their own, are singled-out for discrimination.
I am heartbroken for girls like my friend Zaynab, who fled wars in three countries — Somalia, Yemen and Egypt — before she was even 17. Two years ago she received a visa to come to the United States. She learned English, graduated high school and is now in college studying to be a human rights lawyer.
Zaynab was separated from her little sister when she fled unrest in Egypt. Today her hope of being reunited with her precious sister dims.
In this time of uncertainty and unrest around the world, I ask President Trump not to turn his back on the world’s most defenseless children and families.

U.S. immigrants react to ban: 'Our president is trying to divide us'
Others said they worried the new Trump directive would be counter-productive.
“This policy seems to be directed at the Muslims — and I’m really concerned that this decision will strengthen terrorists and extremist groups, they will have more material to brainwash people that America is against Islam,” said Mohammad Babar, a Muslim leader in Louisville.
“Our president is trying to divide us,” said Farhan Abdi, executive director of Muslim Americans for Compassion. He said refugees and immigrants are “doctors, teachers, lawyers, business owners, factory workers" who will "keep fighting to keep America welcoming.”

Will Trump’s Refugee Ban Have Public Support?
1. In the context of terrorism, at least a plurality of Americans are OK with immigration bans.
In a Quinnipiac University poll conducted in January, 48 percent of voters supported “suspending immigration from ‘terror prone’ regions, even if it means turning away refugees from those regions.” Forty-two percent were opposed. And a December Politico/Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health poll found 50 percent of Americans were in favor of “banning future immigration from regions where there are active terrorist groups.”
2. But a majority of Americans oppose a religion-based immigration ban.
an August 2016 ABC News/Washington Post poll. A slight majority (52 percent) were opposed. A July CBS News/New York Times survey, which asked a similar question, found only 35 percent of voters thought the U.S. should temporarily ban Muslim immigration.
3. Americans seem OK with lowering the number of refugees accepted by the U.S., but outright bans are not likely to be popular.
the same Marist poll showed a full Syrian refugee ban was less popular. More Americans (49 percent) thought we should continue our current policy for Syrian refugees than institute a temporary ban (43 percent). And according to a CBS News survey from October, 61 percent of respondents said the “U.S. should allow refugees from Syria into the United States as long as they go through a security clearance process.”

Trump gives no sign of backing down from travel ban
The Trump administration showed no sign early Sunday of backing down from an executive order that bans entry to the United States from refugees, migrants and even green-card holders from seven mostly Muslim countries.
Despite judicial rulings in several cities across the country overnight that immediately blocked enforcement of the ban to various degrees, the Department of Homeland Security issued a statement early Sunday that said it would continue to implement President Trump’s action.http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/ ... spartanntp

Trump gives Bannon NSC role
In one of three executive actions Saturday, President Trump reshuffled the National Security Council to include his chief strategist, Stephen Bannon, and limited the roles of the director of national intelligence and the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
The memorandum makes the chief strategist a regular attendee of the principals committee, the Cabinet-level interagency forum that deals with policy issues affecting national security. For Bannon, the Washington outsider who ran the conservative website Breitbart News, it's another area of federal government in which he will have influence.
The Trump strategist is already considered a controversial choice for chief strategist because of Breitbart News' tendency to cater to white nationalists and previous comments he's made (i.e. "turn on the hate").
The memo also stated that the director of national intelligence and the chairman of the Join Chiefs of Staff will attend the principals committee meetings when issues related to their responsibilities are needed. According to The Hill, both officials have been regular attendees to principals committee meetings.

United States National Security Council
On January 2017, President Donald Trump offered a permanent seat to Steve Bannon. The move has been described as 'unprecedented', in part because Bannon has been elevated to a position higher than that occupied by the director of national intelligence or the chairman of the Joint Chiefs in spite of having no experience handling matters of national security. It is also controversial because of Bannon's alleged ties to the white supremacy movement.

Yes. Trump is making the grade for the real Americans who voted him into office.
Likely all you will hear of Trump will be false news generated by the elitists/progressives who preferred crooked Clinton.
Here is a post I made on another forum in an effort to counter media lies.
"Despite the global uproar over Trump calling an immigration ban on seven Mideast countries, not once have I seen the fact that the Obama administration selected all these countries.
"the media should also be truthful with the public and instead of claiming Trump singled out seven countries, it should note that the US Congress and Obama’s Department of Homeland Security had singled out these countries. It should have told us about the Terrorist Travel Prevention Act of 2015 rather than pretend this list was invented in 2017. Trump’s executive order said “countries of concern,” it didn’t make a list. That list was already made, last year and years before."
"Where is the “Muslim ban”? It turns out this was a form of fake news, or alternative facts. Trump didn’t select seven “Muslim-majority” countries. US President Barack Obama’s administration selected these seven Muslim-majority countries."

Trump asked for a ‘Muslim ban,’ Giuliani says — and ordered a commission to do it ‘legally’
"I'll tell you the whole history of it," Giuliani responded eagerly. "So when [Trump] first announced it, he said, 'Muslim ban.' He called me up. He said, 'Put a commission together. Show me the right way to do it legally.'"
"They can't deny that this is a Muslim ban," Ellison told Dickerson. "On the campaign trail, [Trump] said he wanted a Muslim ban. ... Rudy Giuliani who helped him write it said that they started out with the intention of a Muslim ban and then they sort of 'languaged' it up so to try to avoid that label, but it is a religiously based ban."

Re: Will Trump make the Grade.
First, I'm not so sure why liberals are so intent on making America as unsafe as France and Germany have become -- along with some other European countries that have allowed mass migration without vetting those entering.
Second, the ban is focused on terror. The countries come from lists provided by Obama's State Department, which is all the new POTUS has to go on. There are 40 predominantly-Muslim countries that are not affected by this 90 Day ban. So if it was a Muslim ban, they'd also be included. They're not included.
Third, in 2011, Obama issued a ban on all travelers from Iraq for a six month period over terror concerns. Not a peep from liberals over that.
Fourth, in 2006, the Congress passed the Secure Fence Act. The details are provided in the link just below. Obama, Biden and Hillary were all in the US Senate at that time. All three voted FOR it. The measure passed the Senate by a vote of 80-19 ... four to one is pretty impressive.
https://www.govtrack.us/congress/votes/109-2006/s262
Trump has an obligation to American Citizens, first. Not illegals, not immigrants, not anyone of any particular religion, but Americans. But liberals don't seem to like it. Makes one wonder about the content of a liberal's agenda.

AMERICA: One of the Greatest Stories Ever Told.
Re: Will Trump make the Grade.
I wonder what "extreme Vetting" is going to add to the current vetting process?
Not all Republicans are standing behind the POTUS on this one:This Is How the Syrian Refugee Screening Process Works
How do we know the refugees aren't terrorists?
Every refugee goes through an intensive vetting process, but the precautions are increased for Syrians. Multiple law enforcement, intelligence and security agencies perform "the most rigorous screening of any traveler to the U.S.," says a senior administration official. Among the agencies involved are the State Department, the FBI's Terrorist Screening Center, the Department of Defense and the Department of Homeland Security. A DHS officer conducts in-person interviews with every applicant. Biometric information such as fingerprints are collected and matched against criminal databases. Biographical information such as past visa applications are scrutinized to ensure the applicant's story coheres.
What percentage of applicants "pass" the screening process?
Just over 50%.
How long does the whole process take?
Eighteen to 24 months on average.
How many have been resettled here?
About 1,800 over the past year. They've been placed in dozens of states across the country, but most are in big states with large immigrant populations, such as California, Texas, Illinois and Michigan.
Who are they?
According to a senior administration official, roughly half the refugees admitted have been children. Around 25% are adults over 60. Only 2% of those admitted, the senior administration official said, have been single males of "combat age."
Has the system been successful so far?
The security checks have a pretty good record. Since the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, the U.S. has admitted some 750,000 refugees. None have been arrested on domestic terrorism charges, though two—a pair of Iraqis in Kentucky—were charged with terrorist activities connected to aiding al-Qaeda.

Republicans Begin to Break With President Trump
For the first time in his presidency, Donald Trump is facing significant criticism from Republican officials and conservative groups who are rattled by his ban on immigrants and refugees from Muslim-majority nations, questioning his domestic policy agenda and worrying about what steps the New York billionaire might take next in the name of nationalism.
By Sunday evening, more than a dozen GOP members of Congress had spoken out against Trump’s executive order on immigration. Among them were an array of the party’s most influential figures. The top Republican in the Senate, Mitch McConnell, said the United States should not implement a religious test. Sen. Rob Portman of Ohio said the plan to strengthen vetting of refugees was itself not vetted.
The rupture in GOP unity, coming so soon after Trump took office on Jan. 20, portends bigger fights to come. Many of the big-ticket items on Trump’s domestic agenda are sure to ruffle feathers among budget hawks. Airports aren’t cheap to rebuild, and bridges, roads and tunnels aren’t free, either. The widespread protests against the immigration moves suggest Trump’s critics are energized, if not organized—and that not all Republicans will blindly have Trump’s back.
“This executive order sends a signal, intended or not, that America does not want Muslims coming into our country,” Senators John McCain and Lindsey Graham said in a joint statement. “That is why we fear this executive order may do more to help terrorist recruitment than improve our security.”

Re: Will Trump make the Grade.
To those who are protesting the implementation of more stringent vetting of individuals from 'risk' countries, it is not unreasonable to follow through their line of thinking and protest by assuming that they see any American who is injured, maimed or murdered as collateral damage and insignificant as a result of a potential terrorist attack. As an outsider looking in, l am encouraged by the position taken that the greater good will take precedence over individuals who will be disadvantaged by this strategy.

CNN Host Beautifully Fact-Slams Delusional Trump Adviser Live On-Air
Harlow wasn’t interested in putting up with Kingston’s rambling, however, asking him, “Congressman, can you point to a single terrorist attack in this country that was carried out by a Syrian refugee?”
He replied by citing the relatively recent terror incidents in San Bernardino, California, Orlando, Florida, and Fort Hood, Texas.
However, as Harlow pointed out — none of the attackers behind the incidents that Kingston mentioned were refugees such as have been targeted by Trump’s immigration ban. She cut in while he was talking in order to point that out, saying that she wanted to “correct this for our viewers,” since what Kingston was saying was “something that is not factual.”

US-Mexico negotiations.

This sounds like someone not willing to negotiate:Pena Nieto sought to chart a middle course "We will work for a border that unites us, and not one that divides us," he said. "Neither confrontation nor submission. Dialogue and negotiation are the solution."

Perhaps a "art of the deal" tatic?
Trump tweeted Thursday that "If Mexico is unwilling to pay for the badly needed wall, then it would be better to cancel the upcoming meeting" in Washington D.C.

Ultimately the meeting was canceled. Now Trump is proposing a 20% tax on Mexico imports (which will consequently be paid for by the US consumers). On Wednesday night, Peña Nieto had said at that time he did not see a need to scrap the get together -- but he strongly reiterated that his country wouldn't fund any border wall, which Senate Majority leader Mitch McConnell said Thursday would cost $12-$15 billion.
"President Trump's insistence that Mexico will pay for the wall has once again just been proven as delusional fiction by the Mexican President," said House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi. "The wall is a multi-billion dollar boondoggle in the making, and Republicans should be embarrassed about their brazen hypocrisy in enabling it."

Hopfully we haven't heard the last word on US-Mexico negotiations yet.Trump’s 20% Mexico Import Tax Will Affect Your Dinner
President Donald Trump has suggested a 20% tax on goods imported from Mexico. It is expected to increase the prices of cars, clothes, food and drinks.
The U.S. imported $21 billion of food and drinks from Mexico in 2015, according to U.S. Department of Agriculture. Here is a breakdown of how much we spend on different items.
⦁ Fresh vegetables: $4.84 billion on vegetables such as tomatoes, chili peppers, and onions
⦁ Fresh fruit: $4.28 billion on raspberries, strawberries, avocados, and other fruits
⦁ Wine and beer: $2.7 billion of alcoholic beverages including Corona
⦁ Snack foods: $1.72 billion
The new tariff is proposed to pay for building the U.S.-Mexico border, which Mexico's president has refuted many times over.

Kellyanne Conway defending the ban:Is this a Muslim ban? Trump's executive order explained
Although Trump administration officials have continued to insist that the president’s actions did not target Muslims or any one faith, the text of the executive order made explicit that the US government would prioritize religious minorities in Muslim-majority countries upon resuming its admittance of refugees.
The president has himself said non-Muslim religious minorities would be prioritized for entry to the US. During an interview with the Christian Broadcasting Network on Friday, Trump said his administration would place an emphasis on helping persecuted Christians in the Middle East and Africa.

Why Donald Trump’s NSA Pick Is Scaring Some National Security Experts
On issues of national security and intelligence, no one is likely to have more influence in Donald Trump's White House than retired Gen. Michael T. Flynn.
Yet Flynn, Trump's incoming national security adviser, has gained prominence in Republican politics by fueling conspiracy theories and Islamophobic rhetoric that critics warn could create serious distractions—or alienate allies and embolden enemies—if it continues.
The issue of sharing fake news was highlighted when Flynn's son, Michael G. Flynn, tweeted about the false idea that prompted a shooting at a Washington pizza parlor. He had been promoting a conspiracy theory that Hillary Clinton's allies had been operating a secret pedophilia ring in the restaurant and noted it would remain a story until "proven to be false."
Less than a week before the election, the elder Flynn tweeted a link to a story that falsely claimed Clinton emails contained proof of money laundering and sex crimes with children, among other illegal activities. The incoming national security adviser called the baseless story a "must read" and instructed his followers: "U decide."
