I caught a few snippets from from DTs new rather attractive WH press secretary Ms Leavitt and thought she did a great job , a refreshing change from the truth skirting lies and cover ups from Bidens last two bints.

An even younger version of Kayleigh McEnany and does not even need that binder full of the actual facts to combat these WH MSM agencies dug in way too deep. Great memory and a breath of fresh air I say!
Should be fun to watch the next few sessions for sure as real media begin their forward motion and the likes of the US TV main stream show their consistently guided and bought bias in their decline. Can't wait for the next press event.
Yes, she didn't need to read from the binder the entire time. LOL

Shoots from the hip and very accurate.

Excellent Tariff News

Trump Plans for 25% Border Security Tariffs on Mexico and Canada Set to Begin Saturday

Two different tariffs will roll out in the next few days.

1. Long-term tariffs MACRO tariffs focused on reciprocity and based on economic fairness. Taxing countries who have been unfair in their trade with the US.

2. National security tariffs which focus on the border that come with demands to shut down the support by bordering countries of fentanyl distribution. These will come in the form of tariffs of 25% against Mexico and Canada. They start on Saturday.

From Politico:
“I’ll be putting the tariff of 25 percent on Canada, and separately, 25 percent on Mexico, and we’ll really have to do that,” Trump told reporters while signing executive orders focused on aviation safety.

Trump cited a “number of reasons” for doing so. “No. 1 is the people that have poured into our country so horribly and so much. No. 2 are the drugs, fentanyl and everything else that has come into the country. And No. 3 are the massive subsidies we are giving to Canada and to Mexico in the form of deficits,” Trump said.

“Those tariffs may or may not rise with time,” the president added.

When asked whether tariffs would also be applied to U.S. imports of Canadian oil, Trump said “we may or may not” apply the duties. “We’re making that determination tonight,” he said.

[…] The president also said he was “thinking about something” on China, because they’re sending fentanyl into our country,” but he did not speak to when he might levy tariffs on Beijing or how high he would raise them. After winning election in November, Trump had threatened to impose a 10 percent tariff on Chinese imports.

The remarks come amid ongoing discussions between the Trump administration and Mexican and Canadian officials, who are seeking to reassure the new president they are clamping down on border security to stave off the tariffs. Both countries have vowed to retaliate with tariffs of their own if Trump follows through on his threats.

My preference would be for 100% import tariffs on all goods. All. Every product imported from another country, which would drive up those prices big time.

I ignore the lying-ass Leftist Thug Media gaslighting in this century regarding tariffs. Real results in Trump's first term proved that surgically targeted tariffs did not ever raise the price to US consumers.

After watching since then what happened with Biden's sanctions against Russia -- cutting off the majority of their imports and the Russian economy thriving -- there is now an international fact-based example that is supportive of 100% tariffs on all imports. Those sanctions forced the Russians to create what they needed for themselves.

Cutting off imports figuratively with tariffs, will force the reindustrialization and manufacturing within the United States, which is full-blown MAGA America First. The economic dynamic will be fundamentally changed. The exfiltration of wealth will end, and wealth creation within the United States begins again -- primarily for the middle class.

The United States possesses all the resources and labor that it needs to create everything for itself and to be consumed by its citizens.

Laying blame for the airline collision with a army helicopter on people before the smoke has settled. WTF does he know?
IMHO Leavitt needs a good reaming out. All he had to say was he was grieving and the NTSB will do their job.

Welcome to the Idiocracy of Trump Land ...... lol.

Where 100% tariffs will inevitably invite retaliatory tariffs and other measures on exports US produced and manufactured goods, leading to historical bankruptcies among export dependent businesses, and US overseas based businesses.

Is China going to stand by, and allow eg Tesla and Apple, to maintain production in their country?

Are US consumers going to stand by, and cop huge direct price increases for consumer goods, plus the inflation and shortages which will inevitably follow?

MAGA Yeah!..... and f--- the rest of the world. I guess it's easier to say when you are sitting comfortably in north-east Thailand. [redacted by Moderator]

The uninformed neglect 3 things.

1. Americans won't buy the tariffed imports like they did with all the tariffs on the CCP. If Americans don't buy, they don't pay higher prices. DUH.

2. High and unreasonable tariffs are already put on US exports by the supposed trade allies, which is why the US is upping the tariff ante.

3. The US has the materials, labor and resources to create and manufacture everything they need.

"The US has the materials, labor and resources to create and manufacture everything they need." You quoted, well

Then why do they import from Canada "United States Imports from Canada was US$429.6 Billion during 2023,
China, "United States Imports from China was US$448.02 Billion during 2023,"
Tawain 87.75 billion U.S. dollars imports in 2023."
Imports from Mexico was US$480.05 Billion and so on.
So, I don't see the US catching up and producing all these goods on its own, far from it

As for labor I understand by reading the latest news you are shipping 11,000,000 workers out of the country, so to say the US has the manpower I dont think so

For Canada, not sure, maybe available resources, for the others, very cheap labor cost. Can you imagine what the costs would be if China, Mexico and Taiwan made products were all made in U.S.

Trump was fully briefed on the midair collision before he went to the podium -- even as to the identities of the Army personnel and their expertise. The helicopter was at the same altitude as the passenger plane and within the standard landing approach for airliners to the airport. The verbal warnings from ATC were to the US Army helicopter, not to the approaching passenger plane, which was preparing to land.

A close military colleague who is a retired US Army helicopter pilot has informed me that holding "practice" in the approach zone for landing at an airport makes no sense -- much less doing it at night.

There will be more of this to come out regarding the helicopter personnel; but all is not confirmed yet, so I will not post it yet.

The manufacturing industry in the United States was destroyed when companies moved their operations overseas because politicians created too many regulations and obstacles. When Trump relaxed those regulations and gave companies incentives to repatriate profits without penalty back to the US, manufacturing was making a comeback before CCPovid.

The US is self-sufficient and with a civilian population large enough to consume it.

No the manufacturing industry was destroyed by the American consumer wanting cheap products that were built in China, Thailand, Philippines, etc
The Consumer wanted cheap prices I can tell you this by listening to consumers discussing every day their purchases, not discussing how companies moved their business to Mexico, Overseas etc

That is spot on, Dd.

But probably not what you would read in Project 2025 - where I suspect many of the screwy ideas above have originated from.

Yes, the Leftists are correct. [sarc] Image

Americans wanted all of those jobs to be lost overseas and cities to become ghost towns with massive unemployment -- like Detroit and Akron and Pittsburgh and Williamsport and Erie and so many others. More than 5 million jobs and almost 70,000 factories vanished.

From Forbes:
Over a span of two decades, from 1998 to 2020, the American manufacturing sector witnessed a significant downturn. During this period, 646,500 high-quality manufacturing positions held by Black employees were eliminated, marking a substantial 30.4% reduction in overall Black representation in manufacturing jobs.

This loss was part of a broader erosion of the U.S. manufacturing base, which saw more than 5 million jobs and nearly 70,000 factories vanish. The primary driver of this decline was an expanding trade deficit in manufactured goods with various global economic powers, including China, Japan, Mexico and the European Union, among others, according to EPI.
https://www.forbes.com/sites/jackkelly/ ... cans-hard/

Like I said: Watch. Again. Image
Because the US economy thrived when Trump brought all those jobs back before CCPovid was unleashed.

Never said they would or insinuated it. If they are a global corporation operating in another country, they are operating with the consent of that country. Their products aren't imported there. The products are made in that country.
