Were there people who died from Covid-19? Yes, and we should do what we can as a nation to prevent these deaths just as we should try to prevent any type of death. But as Carlson pointed out, the measures put in place appear to be far more damaging than the disease they were intended to halt.

What Carlson didn’t mention for obvious reasons but that needs to be said is this: Our government and ruling bodies across the world used the deaths of as many people as possible to paint Covid-19 as far worse than it ever was. People who died of natural or other causes were labeled as Covid-19 deaths for the sake of pushing an agenda. That may be the most purely evil thing any Western government has done in our lifetimes.

An international team of eminent biologists, led by Professor Edward Holmes from the University of Sydney and Professor Andrew Rambaut from the University of Edinburgh, has published a critical review paper on the origins of SARS-COV-2 as a pre-print on Zenodo.

The paper summarises and reviews the existing scientific evidence for the origin of the virus, which causes COVID-19 in humans, concluding that overwhelmingly its most likely origin is zoonotic – a transfer from an animal source to human infection. While the authors say that a laboratory accident “cannot be entirely dismissed” they emphasise that there currently exists zero evidence for such a laboratory origin.

Professor Holmes said: “Our careful and critical analysis of the currently available data provided no evidence for the idea that SARS-CoV-2 originated in a laboratory.”.....

so the fact that the Wuhan Institute of Virology was working with bats and that a lab worker may have gotten infected from a bat in the lab isn't a "zoonotic" transmission of the virus?? How does an epidemiologist track back the infection origin without the 100% cooperation of the Chinese government? Nah, I'll still figure it originated out of the lab. I'll only grant that it was not intentional nor was it some genetically engineered virus.. Just a cock up by some worker who got infected and spread it..

The problem with that is covid from bats cannot bind to the ACE2 receptor in human cells , the only way is if covid comes through a 3rd party animal , so even if it did escape the lab it wasn't bats it would be another animal anyway.

well thats messed with my head , i can understand a % being greater than 100%, but my brain seems to tell me you cant get any less than 100%. so if i have 10 hotdogs and sell all of them thats 100%, so the next day i dont sell any hot dogs which is 100% reduction.... mmm , its 2.30 am and probably not a good concept to be thinking about, but it might help me to get back to sleep

just realised the 250% is a red herring as no one drops dead the same day the catch covid, you need to take into account it takes weeks to die so the difference should be taken from the amount of infected 1 month ago. which was about half of what it is today. theory says there should be a surge in deaths over the next few week as there are about 100,000 cases that have not recovered. plus the rest of the world has had multiple waves over a much longer period . apples and oranges as they say.

Red Herring is a biology problem. %s are a math problem. If you have 1000 Red Herrings and 250 die you lost 25%. But if your 1000 are the rabbit breed of herring and they turn into 2500 herring you gained 250%. Tomorrow we can work on the climate crisis.

Red herrings, and other red herrings aside, I would have thought it was more correct (if you accept Declan's numbers as being real) to say that Thailand's fatality rate is about 40% of the rest of the world.

Maths wasn't my strong suit at school, but I am pretty sure that Ms Fitzpatrick would have said using 250% as a negative number is a nonsense.
