I read an article that one of the drug companies has come up with a treatment that works for omicron. It is inhaled through the nose with no injection.

Good news.
Pre-travel Covid tests for arrivals lifted from April 1

The Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration on Friday resolved to discontinue the requirement that visitors pass a pre-travel Covid-19 test, from April 1, but testing on arrival will continue.

The change in procedure was announced by CCSA spokesman Taweesilp Visanuyothin.

He said the requirement for pre-travel tests would end for all visitors, whether arriving by Test & Go, Sandbox or quarantine channels.

Regarding the English language update. Today she stated the insurance required for entering was lowered to USD 20k. She then said 'returning expats are exempt'. I have heard this before but ignored it. Are expats exempt? What qualifies you as a returning expat?

'Just repeating what the lady said. But now at least I know I ain't Thai. Or you assume I am not Thai. But I could be Thai. Are Thais forbidden to be on this site? Maybe someone else heard what she said.

I assume as a returning expat it is assumed that the Insurance you get for your visa extension will be sufficiant

The problem is what is an expat?
Most likely it will be those with PR not those on 1 year extensions.
Of course if those on 1 year extensions are included that would be great

In my posts all fees and requirements are the standard R&R but TIT and a brown envelope can make incredible changes YMMV.

Is probably the correct answer. Those on PR and those with Work Permits have the greater entitlement. Remember that they were the first non-Thai to be allowed to re-enter after lockdown. As I understand it, those with WP are covered under social security so no additional insurance needed.

Long term squatters on 1-year extensions and visas are virtually same same as tourists and visa-exempters when it comes to such perks. If one already has health insurance, the covid minimums are probably easily met. Those without health insurance probably have to run the gauntlet of the Thai government in this regard. However, from what is being reported, people have been getting in with only 30-days insurance. My recollection is that the "assistants" that do the paperwork check BEFORE getting to the passport halls would be the ones enforcing any rules. Once you clear those, the IO only wants to see your passport.

YMMV

I am travelling to Manchester next Monday (4th) transiting through Zurich.
Do I need to show a PCR test result at the Swiss transit point or the Uk destination, thanks.

Your definitive answer will come from the airline you are flying.

They will be the ones who will refuse you boarding if you don’t meet the conditions of transit for Switzerland, the U.K. or the conditions of the airline itself, the airline may (some do) have more restrictions than the countries you transit or fly to.

for the U.K. www.gov.uk is definitive.

if you qualify as fully vaccinated in Switzerland go to the website of the Federal Office of Public Health.
