Re: Corona Virus / Covid important Information

Post by Khun Paul » March 15, 2020, 6:21 am

Before we all get paranoiac , let us all not forget that the at the start of this virus, guidelines were imp0lemented for us all to raise our own levels of personal Health. To date these have not changed, discussions about use or not of Face masks are still a personal decision, ,but Coughing and sneezing and washing of hands are of utmost importance .

WE also must not forget, like it or not we Are all in this together , educating our Thai families to change habits is also important , especially when this current Thai Government is still in a state of flux about how to deal with it and seems incapable of supplying the very basics which people want .

The reasons people die are still not being told, in the UK for example the latest deaths also came with an explanation that of these 11 all were men over 80 who also had OTHER underlying HEALTH issues except one , so if the demographics and ages plus underlying health issues were made available in all countries , then a more positive picture could be obtained as to the rise or not of the fatalities .

Here I find information is at best sketchy , face mask availability is difficult , nigh on impossible but when you read all the advice from medical Experts really despite outward indignation from ill-informed Govt Ministers here, really useless , unless your self are unwell or going to crowded places, which of course we should refrain from .

I can't work out why Thailand isn't similar to Korea or Italy. Is it the climate? Are there other factors? I understand that the first identified Covid 19 case in Thailand was 8 January. And Thailand is closely connected to China. Over 2 months has passed.

Thailand's neighbours Singapore and Malaysia have the virus in higher numbers, around 170 each,so not too bad really.
Like Thailand they are hot year round countries so maybe the virus is not as potent because of the heat ? Of course once the virus enters your body the effects will be the same whenever you are.
China, Korea, Japan, Iran, Italy, Europe, UK and parts of America are all cold January to March, so maybe climate could be a factor ?
Just when I thought our chance had passed, you go and save the best for last.

Latest state of play on “lockdowns” , apparently a plane was turned around back to the UK while it was on its way to Spain, this could be commercially disastrous for the airlines, holiday companies and hotels etc.

Its going to be disastrous for a lot of people , businesses , and governments , before it shows signs of easing up .
If China had been more open in the early days , instead of trying to sweep it under the carpet , would the situation now of been better .
I think so . Its going to be a long time before things get anything like back to normal , and years before the Worldrecovers financially .

Yes, an ABC documentary indicated that China kept it quiet or under the rug, from the outside world for 2 to 4 weeks, before they notified WHO or WHOEVER.

Just looking at the increase in number of cases Italy, Korea and other European Countries in this last 2 week period, suggests what that extra 2 - 4 weeks might have meant, in possibly stopping it in its tracks whilst it was in China, before the virus moved overseas.

I am sure the virus would still have found its way oversees at some time, but an extra 2 -4 weeks of awareness combined with China locking down the virus hubs earlier, would surely have made some difference to overseas nations.

2 -4 weeks under the Chinese rug, gave the Virus a good head start on the World and now the World is playing "Catch up" :-k

Oh yes, Coronavirus. Made in China and now they are trying to say the U.S. gave it to them. Never was a fan of China, a lot less now. An evil regime.

If a Country went into Total Lock Down for a period of 15- 21 days and I mean every isolation of ever city, people staying inside their household, all schools, shopping mall & businesses closed and yes every airport closed (in & out), then where would the virus be after say 15-21 days.

If the virus only has a 7-10 day infectious period from human to human (or max 14 days) when within the human body and if it can only live outside the body some a matter of days? , then where would the Host be at 15-21 days

I would assume, the worst would be over for that Country

The World needs to take a Holiday for a Month and then "Reboot"

pipoz4444
You are correct.
Most restrictions that have recently been announced by varying governments in various countries are already predicated on a 30-day hiatus on normal, day-to-day activity.

Nothing new here.

They die from pulmonary pneumonia. They 'drown' in the fluid that prevents the wrecked alveoli in their lungs exchanging oxygen and carbon dioxide between the lungs and bloodstream.

Pulmonary pneumonia is what most of not all of the Thai victims have probably died of. Since Thailand arguably lumps all those with pulmonary pneumonia into the one category rather than separating out the Covid-19 initiated ones which, due to global lack of testing kits, isn't practical anyway.

No, he has a valid point. There's a noisome few on this and other forums who keep banging on about how they are being lied to.

Makes absolutely no difference if they are or they aren't. If they are, you'll say "I told you so". If they aren't, you won't believe it anyway. In the meantime, your risk of exposure to contagion is TOTALLY UNCHANGED.

Same as it makes no difference if you get tested today or not.

Keep washing your hands.
