Latest state of play on “lockdowns” , apparently a plane was turned around back to the UK while it was on its way to Spain, this could be commercially disastrous for the airlines, holiday companies and hotels etc.

Five planes actually, all en-route to Spanish destinations. Hours later, Spain announces emergency restrictions. Proactive!

The airline is now sending empty planes to Spain to bring back those still on holiday.

Here I find information is at best sketchy , face mask availability is difficult , nigh on impossible but when you read all the advice from medical Experts really despite outward indignation from ill-informed Govt Ministers here, really useless , unless your self are unwell or going to crowded places, which of course we should refrain from .
The kind of masks available have virtually zero effect on preventing you getting infected, wherever you go.

They do reduce the amount of virus that an infected person expels when coughing or sneezing, but that’s virtually all they do.

Masks like this, even though they are not designed or intended for that job

Are a bit more effective for a healthy person, Though the eyes are still not protected

That particular cartridge is for organic solvents and for that is extremely good. I use them whenever I’m using anything other that water based finishes, and sometimes even then.

Of course they are hot and heavy.

Its going to be disastrous for a lot of people , businesses , and governments , before it shows signs of easing up .
If China had been more open in the early days , instead of trying to sweep it under the carpet , would the situation now of been better .
I think so . Its going to be a long time before things get anything like back to normal , and years before the Worldrecovers financially .
Yes, an ABC documentary indicated that China kept it quiet or under the rug, from the outside world for 2 to 4 weeks, before they notified WHO or WHOEVER.

Just looking at the increase in number of cases Italy, Korea and other European Countries in this last 2 week period, suggests what that extra 2 - 4 weeks might have meant, in possibly stopping it in its tracks whilst it was in China, before the virus moved overseas.

I am sure the virus would still have found its way oversees at some time, but an extra 2 -4 weeks of awareness combined with China locking down the virus hubs earlier, would surely have made some difference to overseas nations.

2 -4 weeks under the Chinese rug, gave the Virus a good head start on the World and now the World is playing "Catch up" :-k

ABC documentary?

Citation please?
ABC News: It's the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, a bit like the BBC in the UK. Been around since 1929 and one could argue that they are reasonably independent with no bias. Can search it on youtube, if you wish. It was to do with the Chinese Doctor who first discovered it (the young Doctor who is now dead from it) and the fact that he and several other Doctors had identified and reported it to Chinese Officials, some weeks earlier then 29 Dec 2019

I believe WHO and others reported that they were formally notified of the COVID 19 on 29 or 30 December 2019, but arguably it was underway in the Hubie Province in China in late November 2019

This is terrible news, I've read a few times that this strain of the Corona Virus is unaffected by climate, looks like that might be right.

The WHO official line is that as the body operates at a pretty standard temperature the ambient temperature might not be making much difference.

By the way Forte on the ring road have and sanitizer gel at 150baht for a large bottle, sales are restricted to two per person

Thanks. The US has ABC news as well and I have them on a feed but I didn't see anything like this.

With last week's Australian 60-Minutes doing an attention-seeking 'expose' of the China wet markets with some laughable 'covert' video taken at Chatuchak exotic pet market in Bangkok and shots of empty Hong Kong streets, it sounds like the Australian media may be going through their finger-pointing, must blame someone phase since there's very little else to talk about except the globally climbing numbers (except in China) and to keep washing your hands.

Either way, if it is about the two Chinese doctors who were stifled and the one who subsequently died, then that is indeed old news. The story does need to be told and I am sure I read about this about a month ago already so maybe they are truly just waking up down undah.

My daughter's university in Bangkok closes starting tomorrow. Classes will be held online. One of the professors tested positive on Friday.

I didn't say they are completely honest, all of the time, only that "they (ABC News Australia) are reasonably independent with no bias". I suspect there are times when the ABC News (Australia), also uses spin to suit themselves, but I doubt this was one of them.

The Covid 19 is too big a issue for any New's outlet, to deliberately mislead the public on.

On that basis, some difficult decisions must be made. Britain has made some tough calls already but their go-it-alone approach carries significant risk and is proving divisive.

In crude terms, Boris Johnson's government is mounting the argument that the outbreak is now so far gone that it is actually desirable for people to get infected. And a lot of people – potentially up to 70 per cent of the country's population, or roughly 47 million.

Just read this in kiwi news
Have looked to confirm else where but not found yet

32 new cases in Thailand yesterday.
The Goverment will hold a meeting today & will disclose where the new cases were found.
It should not need a meeting to disclose where the new cases were found it should have been done immediately.
Source Bangkok Post

Thailand reported 32 new coronavirus cases on Sunday, bringing the total infections in the kingdom to 114, health officials said.

The new patients include 17 people infected at pubs and boxing stadiums, persons who were in contact with foreigners, and those who returned from overseas, Sukhum Kanchanapimai, the health ministry's permanent secretary, told a news conference.

There are 51 others waiting for test results, Dr Sukhum said.

The health ministry will on Monday propose to a virus meeting chaired by the prime minister that the number of people entering Thailand be reduced, to close entertainment places with high risk of transmission, and to cancel activities that involve large gatherings of people, Dr Sukhum said.

The ministry will also disclose the locations where patients have been found, he added

Except maybe here !!!!
Just to reiterate how little the Thai public know . Ive just come back from BigC where there was a line of maybe over 100 people waiting for customer service to open so they could buy face masks , and they stood so close to each other i doubt you could get a fag paper between them . Stupid is what stupid does .
