Just an update on the Thai Pass the system seems to have been upgraded and streamlined...applied yesterday at 12 noon...instant email reply with a registration number and email address where you can check progress of application...7am today received email confirming application successful and attached QR code ...all done and dusted in 19 hours...hows that for service....

Definitely an improvement on the 7 days it took ours but we did apply the day the scheme opened so there was always going to be larger number and teething issues.

Ah a nice reminder of TiT!tamada wrote: ↑November 14, 2021, 11:50 amA little old lady had grabbed my window seat at the front of the bus but started to bleat about needing the window so i took her aisle seat under protest just so boarding could be uninterrupted. The hostess asked if i was happy to change and i pointed out i had no option with 100% pax load but Covid rules say you can't swap seats so it's their problem to sort out. If A28 is flagged as high risk, it's Yai and not tam.

Thank you Neeemu...looking forward to the break in Udon and seeing the grandkids...just on another note for anyone interested...I live in Ireland and have now to apply for Thai Visa through Thai Embassy in London..the Dublin Consular office is now permanently closed..all applications are done online...a fairly straightforward process....I applied for the 90 day non Immigrant Visa...submitted all documentation and got email confirmation of receipt...9 days later received email with Visa attached...print off copy to show at Immigration on arrival..

Travel update. Today I received my non-immigrant O visa.
Time taken 12 days. Now I will start the application for the Thailand Pass.

Good stuff. The latest rework of the TP process is seeing approvals issued within 4 days. It also appears that AQ hotels have ironed out how they can comply with the new 'test & go' procedures. That was the major delay on my effort and I had three AQ bookings on-hold as they all fell into 'radio silence' for four days. One was fully-paid but non-refundable, the other had a 20% non-refundable deposit while the third was fully refundable up to 24-hours before check-in date. I went with the fully pre-paid and canceled the other two at a loss of 1000 baht.
I think one can now safely book a flight departure date around a week ahead but maybe make it 10 days if one needs a comfort zone.

Talk about "new normal" ..... back in the day, if I didn't have my flights/hotel/car hire/insurance and most of my itinerary sorted at least 3 months before a holiday I was in panic mode ![Embarassed ](./images/smilies/icon_redface.gif)

I got a refund on my 7 day quarantine from my hotel, as i was allowed to leave after one day (night of November 2nd). They said it would take 2 weeks, and this being Thailand was not optimistic about getting it, as no promise of refund when booked. But only took 8 days to credit it to my card. A pleasant surprise. The hotel room was quite nice, testing done immediately after arrival and result available 14 hours later, cannot complain about that. And 13,000 baht richer!tamada wrote: ↑November 16, 2021, 7:19 amGood stuff. The latest rework of the TP process is seeing approvals issued within 4 days. To my knowledge you only need insurance for the duration of the trip.
I bought 12 month policy to cover my O visa duration

Can't speak for entering into Bangkok, but when entering Phuket on the Thai Pass system, it worked extremely well. From the time the plane landed, to the time I was sitting in the Taxi leaving the Airport, was less than 40 minutes.
The initial processing by those looking at your documents, before you got to the Immigration counter, was very smooth and efficient. Waiting time, before presenting your documents, was only a matter of a few minutes.

Received confirmation of my Airport Swab test (all clear) with 4 1/2 hours it the text being taken.
Not one Hic-cup, whatsoever.

Update London to Udon Thani Travelling on Thai Airways.
1. Heathrow Check-in required Passport, Thailand Pass, NHS Covid Pass & 72hr Covid Certificate. Boarding Gate took temperature and stamped boarding pass which was then re-checked on boarding.
2.Airport Bangkok very well organised with lots of staff telling you what to do and walking you through the system. Total time was 20 minutes.
a. Medical: Check and note Passport, Boarding Pass, Thailand Pass and AQ Hotel details
b. Immigration, Passport, TM6 document (handed out on the plane) and Visa.
Collected bags, through Customs and met by AQ Hotel rep - onto mini bus. To private (Maitrai) clinic and given Covid test, then on to AQ Hotel. Reception there Downloaded the Morchama App onto my phone and filled in the details.
Overall I was impressed by the level of organisation. No hassle and just go with the flow!
