Nothing to do with the Booze Ban being reinstated but if you have a family member wanting to go out after curfew, perhaps some persuasion verbally or physically or flatten their tires would help. Many people are trying to get back to Thailand, many are waiting for individuals here in Thailand, Family , Hotel Patrons, Husbands, Oil workers, Cruiseline workers etc and if a few have to suffer so be it.

If those critics would think for a second before making their condemnations, they would see these shoppers made big purchases not because they wanted to fill their craving for alcohol (the poor drink day by day; they cannot afford to buy large quantities). From their appearance and their purchases, it's clear as day that they were retailers or food shop owners looking to make some money and get back to a semblance of "normal" life.

Good point initially the alcohol ban at establishments was to deny an excuse to meet and gather , generally most I know ignored that in any event maybe no alcohol but they certainly gathered. The imposition of the Curfew has had a greater impact on socialising than no alcohol ever had .

Since the clearly stated criteria for the resumption of alcohol sales was for home consumption only and not on anyone else's premises, I think the BYOB customers are clearly breaking the law and the restaurant owner's possible claim that they live on the premises is deeply flawed.

Alcohol is still only allowed as takeaway option in restaurants .. sales in supermarkets etc ok ..

IMO i think the earliest will be ok the enjoy an alcoholic beverage in a restaurant will be June 1st .. pubs , bars and night clubs a fair bit longer...having tried Heineken 0% hope im wrong .

No it isn't. There's a daily online update from a nice English-speaking chap from the PM's office that explains everything clearly. Even DM understands what he's saying. I don't have the link handy but DM probably has since he posted about it last week on a thread in this forum.

Indeed Tam .. the Thai English speaking chap giving the updates is most clear and well spoken .. even a peasant bean flicker like me cant understand.

Restaurants are already open .. i was refering to getting a beer with a meal in a restaurant from June 1st ..

bars , pubs and night clubs etc i cant see that being before July or August

Sort of open, if you can only put a few punters on tables what’s the point? Some of the restaurants can only fit in 10 people by the time you TIC two to a table and social distancing. Personally I’m buying August, the Thai people aren’t that keen on them reopening by the looks of it.

Very quiet on the roads but plenty of local restaurants open tonight.
First time out for ages for us as a family.
Nice spicy crocodile dish and a steamed fish.
No alcohol but I don’t need it.

I'll be honest, I miss having a beer when I go out to eat, its not a case of needing it, it's just something I enjoy. Whilst I understand keeping bars closed I don't feel the same about restaurants and I think ultimately both might be eased separately.

Pubs , Bars etc all re opened July 1st ... BUT latest info for anyone who buys online for home delivery or businesses that use this method to purchase.

AS INFO ONLY and a heads up .. reference alcohol ONLINE sales .. the government has confirmed they are banning any form of alcohol sales ONLINE with new laws approved and coming in very soon ...this actually good news for us as vendors such as Wish Beer , Wine Direct and Beervarna and others who take part of the cake and sell from an online site cannot trade as such anymore... this does not effect the final bar/pub retailer only the wholesaler.

Alcohol websites will be banned along with their online purchasing / shopping sections.

For once the government seem to be enforcing as recently heavy fines have been slapped on many of the online alcohol vendors another money making line for the government (and BIB) as its so easy just to check and confirm online selling is happening.
